Cutting process with the use of circular saw requires high rotational speed of tool, which results in variable conditions of tool operation due to the forces between saw teeth and material cut. These forces can be much greater when lack of flatness and saw whipping occur, and thus causing creation of moment of force which bends the saw-blade disk. As a result of deflection the disk deviates from the proper cutting line, the friction between the disk and material arise causing disk heating which reduces its durability. Therefore it is essential to ensure the whipping values and disk flatness deviations to be as low as possible. The article covers the method of flatness and whipping measurement, consisting in rotating disk surface scanning with the use of laser micro-displacement detectors located on the linear drive.
