Przez wiele stuleci istotnym wyznacznikiem polskiego krajobrazu była rezydencja i związany z nią sposób zagospodarowania terenów otaczających, co wynikało z właściwych dla minionych epok realiów społeczno-gospodarczych. Obecnie obiekty rezydencjonalne to grupa najbardziej zagrożonych zabytków. W poniższym artykule wskazano jakie są elementy charakterystyczne dla polskiego krajobrazu rezydencjonalnego, określono jaki jest obecny stan zachowania tej części polskiego dziedzictwa kulturowego, a także scharakteryzowano podstawowe zagrożenia dla opisywanego typu krajobrazu. We wnioskach wskazano na konieczność takiego ukierunkowania współczesnych działań w krajobrazie rezydencjonalnym, aby zachować dla przyszłych pokoleń jego charakterystyczne cechy.

Through centuries the important determinant of Polish landscape was residence. It influenced the way of historic development of surrounding landscape. Its dominating role in the landscape was caused by the social and economic circumstances. Presently the historic residences belong to the most endangered group of monuments. In the following article the author pointed the typical features of Polish residential landscape, defined the state of preservation of this part of Polish heritage and discussed the main dangers to such type of landscape. It was stated in the conclusion of the article that the present investments in residential landscape should be conducted in the way guaranteeing saving its basic values for future generations.

Tożsamość krajobrazu ugruntowana jest w świadomości określonego społeczeństwa. W relacji odczuwania przestrzeni ta jedność odnosi się do cech krajobrazu rodzimego. W pracy zwrócono uwagę na pojęcie tożsamości krajobrazu w ujęciu lokalnym wskazując na rolę społeczeństwa w jego kształtowaniu. Przedstawiono przy tym przykłady tożsamości ugruntowanej, zatartej i „od nowa”. Odniesiono się do kwestii postrzegania przestrzeni wspólnej przez społeczności małych miast na Warmii i Mazurach, należących do międzynarodowej sieci Cittaslow.

The identity is well-grounded in the strong unity of society. This cohesion is related with natural, cultural and social factors which are mostly in regional and local structures. The identity issue in regional context was focused on and its role in social space shaping was pointed in this work. It was necessary to present the examples of well-grounded identity and so called “new identity” created by society of small towns in Warmia and Mazury region.

In addition to the natural-physical aspects of landscape, the public perception of landscapes is of central importance for a comprehensive understanding of landscape. This paper reflects different landscape perceptions on the basis of a photo competition and school workshops. These were conducted in the VITAL LANDSCAPES project as part of a regional participation process in the Upper Austrian LEADER region Mühlviertler Kernland. The authors analysed the photos submitted in the regional photo competition as well as the short films produced by secondary and vocational school students with regard to how the participants perceive the landscapes they inhabit. This paper argues that human-nature relations form an intrinsic part of the regional landscape perception and that depictions of local/regional landscape particularities contribute to forming personal and collective identities.
