Effect of the entire coal basin flooding on the land surface deformation

This paper presents one of the environmental problems occurring during underground mine closures: according to the underground coal mine closure programme in Germany, the behaviour of the land surface caused by flooding of the entire planned mining area – the Ruhr District – had to be addressed. It was highlighted that water drainage would need to be continuous; otherwise, water levels would rise again in the mining areas, resulting in flooding of currently highly urbanised zones. Based on the variant analysis, it was concluded that the expected uniform ground movements caused by the planned rise in the mining water levels (comprising a part of two concepts – flooding up to the level of –500 m a.s.l. and −600 m a.s.l.), in the RAG Aktiengesellschaft mines, will not result in new mining damage to traditional buildings. The analysis included calculations of the maximum land surface uplift and the most unfavourable deformation factor values on the land surface, important from the point of view of buildings and structures: tilt T, compressive strain ε– and tensile strain ε+. The impact of flooding on potential, discontinuous land surface deformation was also analysed.

Przedstawiono wyniki oszacowań sejsmiczności indukowanej wykonane na podstawie analitycznego opisu stanu zdeformowania warstw skalnych. Prognozy te wykorzystano do określenia rejonu badań deformacji powierzchni terenu wywołanych eksploatacją, powodującą wysoką aktywność sejsmiczną.

Oddziaływanie eksploatacji górniczej na obiekty ziemne wymaga odrębnych, szczegółowych analiz. W analizach takich należy uwzględniać szereg czynników, takich jak: zmiany geometrii zbocza wskutek deformacji terenu, zmiany własności fizycznych podłoża oraz obciążenie obiektem (np. Budowlą). Przykład takich analiz podano w ramach niniejszej pracy.

The influence of underground mining on ground engineering objects reąuires special calculation procedures and analyses. In these analyses one should take into account sever factors as: changes in slope geometry caused by land surface deformation, changes of physical properties of subsoil as well as object gravity loading. The exemplary analysis has been shown in this paper.

KWK "Marcel" zamierza kontynuować intensywną eksploatację górniczą w Polu Marklowice. Jednym z istotnych problemów wynikających z realizacji tej eksploatacji jest konieczność zapewnienia funkcjonalności drogi wojewódzkiej nr 932. Droga ta po 2006 r. Zostanie zatopiona przez zalewisko, jakie się wykształci na potoku Kucharzówka. W artykule przedstawiono metodykę określenia czasu zatopienia drogi oraz oceny ostatecznego zasięgu tego zalewiska. Znajomość tych wielkości pozwoliła na wypracowanie koncepcji przeniesienia tej drogi poza zalewisko, a także na ocenę kosztów takiego przedsięwzięcia.

Coal mine 'Marcel' is planning to continue an intensive mining works in the field Marklowice. One of the problems to be coped with in view of the above mining process is the functionality of the intercity road no 932 which should be ensured. After the year 2006 the road will be flooded by the flood land formed on the stream Kucharzówka. The paper presents the methodology defining the time of the flooding of this road and estimating the final range of the flood land. By determining these quantities we will be in a position to work out a concept to shift the existing road outside the influence of the flood land and to estimate the costs of such an enterprise.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest ocena wpływu eksploatacji w KWK "Dębieńsko" na podstawie wyników pomiarów geodezyjnych na zaprojektowanej i wdrożonej linii obserwacyjnej. Wyznaczono parametry teorii W. Budryka - S. Knothego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na zjawisko aktywacji starych zrobów, które należy uwzględniać w prognozowaniu wpływów poprzez dodanie do deformacji powodowanych aktualną eksploatacją, deformacji powodowanych nieckami aktywacyjnymi wcześniej dokonanych eksploatacji.

The paper presents the assessment involving the influence of mining in coal mine 'Eębieńsko' basing on the results of geodesic measurements carried out along the designed and implemented observation line. The parameters of W.Budryk - S.Knothe theory were determined. Particular attention was paid to the activation of abandoned workings, which should be taken into account when predicting the influence by adding the deformation effected by the activation troughs of completed mining processes to the deformation effected by the ongoing mining.
