W artykule przedstawiono możliwości kształcenia i rozwijania kwalifikacji personelu eksploatującego instalacje transportu gazów płynnych z wykorzystaniem metod symulacji komputerowej. Symulator, w procesie kształcenia personelu związanego z obsługą łańcucha transportowego LNG jest kluczowym narzędziem ze względu na praktyczne zastosowanie zdobywanych umiejętności. Akademia Morska w Szczecinie, jako jedyny ośrodek w Polsce posiada bazę dydaktyczną opartą na nowoczesnych rozwiązaniach technicznych pozwalających na szkolenia załóg statków transportujących LNG i personelu terminali.

The article presents the possibility of training and increasing the staff qualifications of the transport gas in liquid form using a computer simulation method. Simulator as a tool in the process of staff training related to the operation of LNG transport chain is essential because of the practical application of skills acquired during the teaching course. Maritime University in Szczecin, as the only center in Poland, has a teaching database based on modern technical solutions to support the training of tanker ship's crew and terminal staff.

This article aims at contributing to the discussion by expressing author's opinions on the present and future place and role of the International Convention STCW-78/95. The author is seeking further solutions and more effective and flexible forms and methods of training and improving the skills and knowledge of ship's personnel to meet modern and future needs of the shipping industry. The argument is based on considerations concerning seafarers' competence. The essential role of man in the safety of navigation is emphasised as well as his aspirations and need for intellectual development, set in comprehensive knowledge useful both at sea and on land.
