Artykuł porusza problem wyznaczania jednostek krajobrazowych o charakterze rolniczym. Obszar badawczy obejmuje 10 gmin podmiejskich Wrocławia silnie zagrożonych procesem suburbanizacji. Celem badań jest sprawdzenie przydatności narzędzi GIS do wyznaczenia tła krajobrazowego na obszarach o charakterze rolniczym. Korzystając z oprogramowania ArcGIS autorzy sprawdzają przydatność bazy danych Corine Land Cover (CLC) 2012 do określenia tła krajobrazowego na poziomie typu krajobrazu. Dalsza analiza jest prowadzona dla krajobrazu o charakterze rolniczym. Tło krajobrazowe charakterystyczne dla czterech zidentyfikowanych podtypów krajobrazu rolniczego jest wyznaczone przy pomocy modelu i wykorzystaniu narzędzia Model Builder programu ArcMap. Dla wyznaczenia tła krajobrazowego przyjęto kryterium kształtu i wielkości działek. Wyniki badań pokazują, że zarówno baza danych Corine Land Cover jak i wykorzystanie modelu mogą być przydatne do identyfikacji tła krajobrazowego typów i podtypów krajobrazu rolniczego. Artykuł rozpoczyna dyskusję o metodach wyznaczania jednostek krajobrazowych.

The article addresses the problem of determining agricultural landscape units. The research area includes ten suburban municipalities of Wroclaw, which are heavily threatened with the process of suburbanization. The purpose of the research is to check the suitability of GIS tools for determining landscape backgrounds in agricultural areas. Using the ArcGIS software, authors examine the suitability of the Corine Land Cover 2012 database to determine landscape backgrounds at the level of landscape type. Further analysis is conducted for the agricultural landscape. The landscape background for the four identified agricultural landscape subtypes is modeled using the ArcMap Model Builder tool. For determining the landscape background, the criterion of shape and size of plots was adopted. The results show that both the Corine Land Cover database and model use can be useful for identifying landscape backgrounds of agricultural landscape types and subtypes. The article starts the discussion of how to designate landscape units.

Oceny oddziaływania na środowisko, obok planów zagospodarowania przestrzennego, to najważniejszy instrument ochrony środowiska o charakterze prewencyjnym. Procedura ocen oddziaływania na środowisko (OOŚ) od 1990 r. stała się oficjalnym narzędziem polityki ochrony środowiska w naszym kraju. Nieunikniony rozwój miast i związane z tym przekształcenia stref podmiejskich sprawiają, że oceny środowiskowe nabierają coraz większego znaczenia w ochronie krajobrazów podmiejskich. Pozwalają one kompleksowo i syntetycznie prezentować wiedzę o potencjalnych skutkach planowanych działań i o możliwościach ich unikania lub łagodzenia.

The paper presents different examples of existing and planned system of Gdańsk Agglomeration's bypasses, localised mostly in suburban landscapes. It shows not only the potential threats for the suburban landscapes caused by construction and operation of new roads, but also the chances of improvements in the landscapes of chosen places and areas. Detailed description of environmental, visual and cultural impacts is presented for every chosen example. One of tools, which regulates problems with the landscape quality management, is Environmental Impact Assessment procedure (EIA). It is obligatory by law for all planned activities that might seriously affect the environment. That also includes major roads changing the quality of suburban landscape. Systematic and interdisciplinary approach realised by EIA ensures the proper assessment of landscapes' values and threats, to see technical, environmental, cultural, visual, social and economic problems not in isolation, but in their mutual relations. It helps to make a decision on most desired shape of a future development, including new road systems. It is especially important in the areas, where many different circumstances have to be taken into account, and the problem is to consider in a complex manner advantages and threats, and to compare strong and weak aspects of space, to ensure the best choice. ElAs may be helpful in avoiding and minimising negative impacts, but also in promotion, exposure, and better access to natural and cultural heritage of objects and areas, as well as in better management of their surroundings. Under some conditions, the road construction in suburban areas may open up new opportunities for the sustainable city development. This thesis has been illustrated by proposal of mitigation measures given for chosen cases.
