W Polsce w instrumentach planistycznych niedoceniane są modelowe interpretacje struktury przestrzennej miast. Jednak wykorzystanie tych modeli mogłoby stać się wartościowym narzędziem w prowadzeniu polityki przestrzennej. Model miasta przedstawiony w formie konstrukcji urbanistycznej jest efektem interpretowania na przystępny język różnego typu informacji i danych przestrzennych. Celem badań jest poszukiwanie graficznej reprezentacji struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej miasta i metodologii waloryzowania przestrzeni zurbanizowanej pod kątem jakości środowiska mieszkaniowego. W badaniach wykorzystano klasyczne metody stosowane w urbanistyce i architekturze. Głównym wnioskiem z badań jest stwierdzenie, że czytelny plan miasta może stać się przydatnym narzędziem do kształtowania wysokiej jakości środowiska zurbanizowanego. Model struktury przestrzenno-funkcjonalnej Rzeszowa może służyć jako przykład dla innych miast w Polsce.

In Poland, model interpretations of the spatial structure of cities are undervalued in planning instruments. However, the use of these models could become a valuable tool in spatial policy making. A city model presented in the form of an urban structure is the result of interpreting various types of spatial information and data into an accessible language. The aim of the research is to find a graphical representation of the functional-spatial structure of the city and a methodology for the valorisation of urbanised space in terms of the quality of the residential environment. The research was carried out using classical methods of urban planning and architecture. The main conclusion of the research is that a legible city plan can become a useful tool to design a high quality urban environment. The spatial-functional structure model of Rzeszów can serve as an example for other cities in Poland.

The author deals with the model interpretation of the city's spatial structure. This approach emphasizes the role of the urban structure based on nodes and development corridors. Continuing the research on the spatial structure of Krakow, the author considers the criteria appropriate for the delimitation of areas with the highest crystallization potential of the urban tissue. Against this background, presents the results of a case study of one of the main development axes of Krakow.

Autor podejmuje problematykę modelowej interpretacji struktury przestrzennej miasta. W podejściu tym akcentuje się rolę konstrukcji urbanistycznej opartej o miejsca węzłowe i korytarze rozwoju. Kontynuując badania nad strukturą przestrzenną Krakowa, autor rozważa kryteria właściwe dla delimitacji pasm terenów o najwyższym potencjale krystalizowania tkanki miejskiej. Na tym tle przedstawia efekty studium przypadku jednej z głównych osi rozwoju Krakowa.
