W artykule przedstawiono dane statystyczne związane ze strukturą zatrudnienia dołowych pracowników kopalń węgla kamiennego trzech spółek węglowych w Górnośląskim Zagłębiu Węglowym. Analiza zatrudnienia obejmowała pracowników trzech głównych oddziałów kopalń: eksploatacyjnych, przygotowawczych i szybowych. Zestawiono informacje na temat liczby zatrudnionych, zajmowanych stanowisk oraz przedziałów wiekowych. Zamieszczono także — w formie przykładu — wyniki pomiarów i obliczeń dotyczących cieplnych warunków pracy w badanych oddziałach.

The article features statistical data related to the employment structure of underground workers in hard coal mines of three mining companies in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The analysis of the employment structure comprised the staff from three major departments of each mine: exploitation, preparation and shafts. There are data presented about the number of employees. their positions and age. As an example, the authors presents the results of measurements and calculations concerning thermal conditions in the examined mines.

The article presents how the hazards occurring in mines affect the general safety level. The authors discussed the impact of the spontaneous fire hazard and rock burst hazard on the explosion hazard level. Then, the new method of complex and system-based monitoring of the co-existing hazards was described. This method takes into account simultaneous occurrence of the methane explosion and fire hazards, as well as rock burst and coal dust explosion hazards. Finally, the major tasks and functionalities of the monitoring system were presented.
