The concept of a maintenance-free drive-thru inspection station for commercial vehicles

The article presents the concept of a maintenance-free inspection station intended for conducting drive-thru tests of commercial vehicles. The main purpose of building this type of diagnostic line is to carry out non-invasive, preliminary tests of heavy-duty vehicles entering the vehicle service area in terms of parameters affecting the safety of their operation in relation to the applicable standards. The main parameter to be assessed will be the concentration of toxic exhaust components, measured using remote sensing methods. In addition, the proposed diagnostic line can be supplemented with additional remote measurement systems, such as, for example, systems for assessing the condition of vehicle lighting, loads on individual axles and individual wheels of the vehicle, tire pressure, thermal load of the brake system, as well as a system for detecting leaks of fluids from the vehicle. Based on the carried out work, it has been shown that using the current specialist knowledge and the components of measurement systems available on the market, it is possible to develop an innovative diagnostic line using remote measurement methods.

Minie wkrótce 6 lat od opublikowania dyrektywy Parlamentu Europejskiego dotyczącej okresowych badań zdatności do ruchu drogowego pojazdów silnikowych i ich przyczep. W Polsce powinna obowiązywać od maja 2018 roku, ale... W połowie grudnia 2018 roku było już blisko wprowadzenia nowych zasad funkcjonowania w Polsce stacji kontroli pojazdów, jednak tuż przed ich uchwaleniem wycofano projekt nowelizacji stosownych ustaw. Wiele wskazuje na to, że rząd wraca do niezrealizowanego pomysłu.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę stanu ilościowego pojazdów samochodowych w Polsce, aspekty prawne określające dopuszczalne wartości emisji spalin. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań uzyskanych w obowiązkowych okresowych badaniach kontrolnych. Przedstawiono wpływ zarówno czasu użytkowania jak i przebiegu pojazdów na trwałość elementów ograniczających tę emisję w wybranych grupach pojazdów.

The article presents selected aspects of the impact of the technical condition of category PC (Passanger cars) vehicles, operating in the country, on the basis of emission measurements of gases from exhaust systems. The paper presents the results received from mandatory periodic vehicle inspections. It shows the influence of both the usage time and mileage on the durability of elements that limit these emissions in selected groups of vehicles.

In this paper, the friction characteristics of a vehicle equipped with skidcar system are analyzed. Skidcar system with attached additional wheels helps to regulate the adhesion with the road surface. Easy slipping vehicle is a useful device for driving skills improvement, carrying out various vehicle dynamics and control research activities. Important reason of skidcar systems is an ability to set low friction values in dry and good contact road conditions. Regulation of friction characteristics extends the limits of the system operation. In this case, the identification of friction characteristics is important. Vertical load of wheels and critical horizontal forces are measured in each operating mode by changing skidcar system height. Furthermore, IS04138 driving manoeuvre is performed to measure the vehicle accelerations, oscillations and slip parameters for friction evaluation in dynamic state. The performed analysis could be useful for drivers training and for further vehicle stability and control researches upon using skidcar system.

The security of freights in the inter-modal transport

This article is a way to counteract the terrorist attacks (using non-conventional methods) with the help of dangerous charges transported in the inter-modal technologies. This article consists of three parts. In the one of them there were presented the key issues relating to the inter-modal transport, its growth taking place in Europe and, in particular, the dynamic increase for transport of sea-containers by using the sea-transport means. In the second its part it was discussed (using an example of a port in Singapore with the biggest trans-shipment of sea-containers in the world) there some general rules for protecting of ships and a sea-port infrastructure building structures against the terrorist attacks. The third part constitute the legal regulations serving security in transport. In the forth part of this article it were presented there the non-invasive methods for inspection of vehicles and freights in sea-containers (with the help of gamma-rays, X-rays, neutron beam) and the Initiative Against the Proliferation of Mass Strike Weapon.

Artykuł poświęcony jest sposobom przeciwdziałania atakom terrorystycznym (metodami niekonwencjonalnymi) przy pomocy ładunków niebezpiecznych przewożonych w technologiach intermodalnych. Artykuł składa się z czterech części. W części pierwszej przedstawiono węzłowe zagadnienia z zakresu transportu intermodalnego, jego rozwój w Europie, a w szczególności dynamiczny wzrost przewozów kontenerów transportem morskim. W części drugiej omówiono (na przykładzie portu w Singapurze o największym przeładunku kontenerów na świecie) ogólne zasady zabezpieczania przed atakami terrorystycznymi statków i obiektów infrastruktury portowej. Część trzecią stanowią regulacje prawne służące bezpieczeństwu w transporcie. W części czwartej zostały zaprezentowane nieinwazyjne metody kontroli pojazdów i ładunków w kontenerach (przy pomocy promieni gamma, rentgena, wiązki neutronów) oraz Inicjatywa Przeciwko Proliferacji Broni Masowego Rażenia.
