Lab, firmy LMS.

In the paper, the results of tests and calculations are presented for acoustic road barrier treated as a plane vibrating surface source emitting acoustic waves. The tests were realized with the use of scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) which enables remote registration and the spectral analysis of vibrations for the points of the square lattice chosen on the tested surface. For comparison obtained data were also analyzed with the LMS Test.Lab software for modal analysis ([1, 2, 3, 9]). The acoustic barrier at S1 road in Sosnowiec was chosen for the in situ tests (Fig. 1). The general view of tested acoustic road barrier spot and measurement configuration is presented in the Figs 2 – 6. For the first time, the comparison was made of data analysis results obtained for acoustic barrier vibrations identified with the use of laser vibrometer PSV-400 internal tools and the ones calculated with the use of LMS Test.Lab software. The results were presented in Tab. 1, Fig. 7 and Fig. 11. In Tab. 2, Tab. 3, Tab.4 and Figs. 8 – 10, MAC coefficients (Modal Assurance Criterion, [4, 5, 6]) and identi-fied vibration modes were presented. The final method being still developed may find use in wide range of applications, e.g. for sound transmission analysis ([7], [8]) of plane acoustic road barriers for different vibration modes.

In this paper, a computer program based on a genetic algorithm is developed to find an economic solution for noise control in a forging workshop. Initially, input data, including characteristics of sound sources, human exposure, abatement techniques, and production plans are inserted into the model. Using sound pressure levels at working locations, the operators who are at higher risk are identified and picked out for the next step. The program is devised in MATLAB such that the parameters can be easily defined and changed for comparison. The final results are structured into 4 sections that specify an appropriate abatement method for each operator and machine, minimum allowance time for high-risk operators, required damping material for enclosures, and minimum total cost of these treatments. The validity of input data in addition to proper settings in the optimization model ensures the final solution is practical and economically reasonable.

This study was conducted in metalwork and woodwork industries in Jeddah Industrial Estate. The purpose of this study was to assess the magnitude of industrial noise exposure and to propose remedial actions. Noise was measured at different times of a day in 28 randomly selected factories and workshops. Results indicated that noise levels varied according to the type and size of a factory, and the type and number of machines used. Mean noise levels in metalwork factories were higher than those in woodwork factories. The highest noise levels were observed while manufacturing cans and forming steel reinforcement for concrete, where noise levels exceed 90 dB(A). All mean noise levels in all studied metalwork factories and in 50% of studied woodwork industries were higher than the standard level of 85 dB(A).

In the papaer expressions are given for the main sources of noise emitted while milling and influence of selected constructional features in power transmission and functional system on noise level. The object of investigation was multiple disc shredder. Based on literature and aur own measurement results we distinguished constructional features which have decisive influence on noise emission in the toothed-belt drive (as a power transmission system) and multiple disc cutter (as a functional system). On the basic of our studies, it has been observed that profile form of the belt's tooth (T, AT, ATP, THP belt profile's studies) has a great influence on the noise emitted across the most of the range of rotational speed measured.
