The functioning of international companies is inextricably linked with the occurrence of organizational conflicts due to the cultural differences observed in these organizations. The paper presents the causes, manifestations and consequences of intercultural conflicts within global companies. It also proposes some preventive measures that can be taken to avoid the conflicts and suggests possible ways of neutralizing the negative effects of the already existing ones. The article has been inspired by the results of the empirical investigation carried out in a global company, LG Electronics.

Funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw międzynarodowych jest nierozerwalnie związane z występowaniem w nich konfliktów organizacyjnych na tle różnic kulturowych. W artykule przedstawiono przyczyny, przejawy i następstwa ich występowania oraz możliwości przeciwdziałania konfliktom międzykulturowym oraz łagodzenia negatywnych skutków w razie ich zaistnienia. Inspiracją tej publikacji i źródłem informacji wykorzystanych w jej treści były wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych w przedsiębiorstwie globalnym LG Electronics.

As many of contemporary enterprises consider Knowledge Management as a way to be more competitive, it seems interesting to look at the organizational conflicts from KM perspective. Understanding the potential conflict sources when KM is being implemented or once KM is already in place, can help the organization to prepare to conflict situations and deal with them appropriately.
