W artykule przedstawiono problemy związane z koncepcją zrównoważonego rozwoju, w odniesieniu do łańcuchów dostaw. Zdefiniowano termin -zrównoważony rozwój. Omówiono zagadnienia zrównoważonego rozwoju w jednostkach przemysłowych. Scharakteryzowano studia przypadków, opisane w literaturze. Przedstawiono procedurę dziesięciu kroków w budowaniu sprawnych, nowoczesnych łańcuchów dostaw. Opisano elementy teorii dóbr publicznych w zrównoważonym rozwoju. Artykuł zakończono wnioskami.

The paper presents problems of the concept of the sustainable development in relation to the logistics supply chains. The concept of the sustainable development was defined and the problems of the sustainable development in the industrial enterprises were discussed. The paper presents case studies described in the literature. The author presented the ten-steps-procedure of building effective and modern logistics supply chains. Finally the elements of the theory of public good in the concept of the sustainable development were described. The paper ends with conclusions.

Condition of the chemical industry in Poland, like throughout Western Europe, is a key determinant of the level of modernity and development of the entire system of economic and social state. New element is the increasing impact of action of the European Commission on the situation of chemical industry in the implementation of Climate package, and the concept of Sustainable Development.

Artykuł przedstawia koncepcję strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju jako przedmiot zainteresowań przedsiębiorstwa. Planowanie i realizacja zrównoważonego rozwoju wiąże się z zachowaniem równowagi funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa pomiędzy sferą ekonomiczną, społeczną a przyrodniczą. Zrównoważony rozwój przedsiębiorstwa wymaga opracowania dokumentu planistycznego, jakim jest strategia zrównoważonego rozwoju całego przedsiębiorstwa. Podstawowe zasady budowy strategii i jej cechy przedstawiono w niniejszym artykule. Wyeksponowano także procesowe, strategiczne i systemowe podejście przedsiębiorstwa hutniczego do realizacji koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju.

This paper presents the role of the strategy of sustainable development as an object of management in metallurgical enterprise. The concept of sustainable development is connected with balance of all activities in enterprise to protect environment. Sustainable development assumes the integral nature of the triad: economy-environment-society. The concept of sustainable development is based on the strategy of the sustainable development. Both the structure of the strategy and its key elements are presented in this paper. Besides process, strategic management and system are very important in environmental management in enterprise, so I present them.

On the present stage of searching effective methods helping in sustainable development implementation, processed model of evaluation can be the valuable tool motivating a local government to continuous improvement. In our publication we accomplish the analysis of project quality's of live improvement in the Gliwice community. Then the process was evaluated and conclusions were drawn out. In the age of sustainable development the issue of assessment of achievements in this field becomes quite important in case both an industrial and an administration organization. The authors described results of an analysis of the sustainable development processes on a local level in the Gliwice community. In our research we used many indicators that can be divided into three areas: - economical, - ecological, - social. In those areas we prepare many indicators to evaluate quality management of life in the Gliwice community. In the base of our research one can affirm that prepared model can be used to sustainable development evaluation on the local community.

Due to the World Summit in Johannesburg (26 August - 4 September 2002) many institutions all over the world were very active recently. In this work results of these activities were reviewed as far as the approach to the concept of sustainable development is concerned from the United Nations and European Union positions as well as preliminary results of own research realized within the frames of the subject "Proecological management of processes" were presented.
