Considering the known fact, that we obtain most of the information about the world surrounding us through our vision, the importance of colour becomes obvious also when dealing with architecture and urban structures. Colour is one of the means of architectural and urban composition the full extent and conceptual use of which are still subject of research in the framework of the complex system of the man-colour-environment relationships. The aim of the majority of the present urban restructuring processes in Slovakia is to achieve a humanization of the dwelling environment and its adaptation to the current needs of the society. This process involves most of all our post-war dwelling estates, but also the central town areas and is closely connected to the effort of completing or re-shaping them. Colour plays a vital role in this process.
