Smart mobility in smart city – Copenhagen and Barcelona comparision

Purpose: The goal of the paper is to analyze the main differences between the smart mobility idea implementation in Copenhagen and Barcelona. Design/methodology/approach: Critical literature analysis. Analysis of international literature from main databases and polish literature and legal acts connecting with researched topic. Findings: The papers compares the smart mobility solutions implemented in Copenhagen and Barcelona, two cities that have developed comprehensive and innovative transportation systems. While both cities have sustainable, efficient, and convenient transportation systems, they differ in their focus and governance structure. Copenhagen is a leading city in sustainable transportation, with a strong focus on cycling infrastructure and an integrated public transportation system. On the other hand, Barcelona focuses on reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality, with innovative solutions such as a low-emission zone and a smart parking system. Additionally, Copenhagen has a highly centralized governance structure, while Barcelona adopts a more decentralized approach, engaging citizens and stakeholders in transportation decision-making. Originality/value: Detailed analysis of differences between Copenhagen and Barcelona in the case of smart mobility implementation.

This paper analyzes the real-world experience of using Bicycle traffic as a new way of supporting logistics traffic and reducing the load on the transport network of cities. As a result of this research, it was found that the real-world experience yields positive results and that cycling is actively becoming common in most of the world's cities. In the Russian Federation, not much attention has been paid to this in comparison with other countries; nevertheless, in recent years, this has been actively pursued. Research of the transport system supporting the city Stary Oskol of the Belgorod region and the Russian Federation allowed the authors to determine the main strategies for the development of a comprehensive and integrated Cycling network consisting of a Bikeway Plan as well as an economic assessment of its implementation. To justify this Bikeway plan, a simulation of travel time on public transport, calculation of the total travel time on various modes of transport and calculation of the walking time compared to the time spent in public transport were performed.

Celem pracy jest pokazanie, że pewne wyniki dotyczące minimalizacji pracy potrzebnej do pokonania oporów ruchu mogą być otrzymane w prosty sposób z równania Eulera-Lagrange'a - warunku koniecznego ekstremum funkcjonału. Równanie to jest na ogół równaniem różniczkowym drugiego rzędu. W przypadku gdy funkcja podcałkowa minimalizowanego funkcjonału liniowo zależy od pochodnej, równanie to degeneruje się do pewnego równania algebraicznego. Krzywa reprezentująca rozwiązanie tego równania nosi nazwę łuku osobliwego. W pracy zostaną przedstawione dwa przypadki minimalizacji pracy potrzebnej do pokonania oporów ruchu: w kolarstwie i wioślarstwie.

It has been shown in the paper, that some results referring to minimization of the work necessary to overcome the resistance of motion may be obtained in the simple way using Euler-Lagrange's equation. In general, this equation is an ordinary differential equation of the second order. If the function in the functional is linear with respect to the derivative it degenerates to an algebraic equation. The curve that represents the solution of this equation is called the singular arc. Two minimization problems of the work necessary to overcome the resistive forces have been considered in cycling and rowing.
