In the digital economy, knowledge is produced within spontaneously emerging communities of peers around a shared domain of interest according to a commons-based mode of intellectual production. This significantly differentiates itself from the dominant mode, based on capital and commodity markets. The community constitutes a self-organized and informal social structure that supports sustainable knowledge production, distribution and consumption, and where knowledge becomes a subject of commonification. This article presents a case study of how knowledge commons are managed by coworking communities.
