The paper deals with the implementation of key performance indicators (KPI) for the evaluation of the efficiency of production processes. A key performance indicator is a measurable indicator that expresses how effectively the company achieves key goals in both production and non-production areas. As part of the research, various process key performance indicators characterizing product quality were identified. The indicator of the number of faulty products in relation to the volume of production (EXTppm) was chosen for the research. The monthly development of EXTppm in the course of 2022 and the long-term development in the years 2012-2022 were evaluated. The research was also devoted to the analysis of the reasons for not achieving the KPI target values, and measures were proposed to eliminate poor quality, respectively reduction of the number of complained products.

The rapid growth and distribution of IT systems increases their complexity and aggravates operation and maintenance. To sustain control over large sets of hosts and the connecting networks, monitoring solutions are employed and constantly enhanced. They collect diverse key performance indicators (KPIs) (e.g. CPU utilization, allocated memory, etc.) and provide detailed information about the system state. Storing such metrics over a period of time naturally raises the motivation of predicting future KPI progress based on past observations. This allows different ahead of time optimizations like anomaly detection or predictive maintenance. Predicting the future progress of KPIs can be defined as a time series forecasting problem. Although, a variety of time series forecasting methods exist, forecasting the progress of IT system KPIs is very hard. First, KPI types like CPU utilization or allocated memory are very different and hard to be modelled by the same model. Second, system components are interconnected and constantly changing due to soft- or firmware updates and hardware modernization. Thus a frequent model retraining or fine-tuning must be expected. Therefore, we propose a lightweight solution for KPI series prediction based on historic observations. It consists of a weighted heterogeneous ensemble method composed of two models - a neural network and a mean predictor. As ensemble method a weighted summation is used, whereby a heuristic is employed to set the weights. The lightweight nature allows to train models individually on each KPI series and makes model retraining feasible when system changes occur. The modelling approach is evaluated on the available FedCSIS 2020 challenge dataset and achieves an overall R^2 score of 0.10 on the preliminary 10\% test data and 0.15 on the complete test data. We publish our code on the following github repository: https://github.com/citlab/fed\_challenge.

The main purpose of the paper is to identify the group of indicators that are most widely used in the manufacturing area worldwide, to identify the responsibility and authority for measuring and evaluating business performance, and to create an illustrative competency-based model for a performance management system within a business. The paper covers two areas that are important in the maintenance of sustainable business performance. The first area focuses on a performance management system and its key performance indicators as an important element in every performance management system within a business. The article also presents the theoretical background of the Z-MESOT method, which is applied to define the consistency of these indicators in practice. The second area is dedicated to defining a competency-based model and competences related to the measurement and assessment of performance, which have been extracted from other general competences. This paper presents findings from qualitative research to eliminate the bottlenecks of the Z-MESOT matrix that was transposed into a questionnaire. The questionnaire, as well as structured interviews, helped identify differences in responsibility attributes of the Z-MESOT matrix regarding the size of the researched businesses. The paper offers a list of competences related to the key performance indicators that can be used for following theoretical and practical research.

Electric vehicles are accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Nevertheless, the lack of a proper charging station infrastructure in many real implementations still represents an obstacle for the spread of such a technology. In this paper, we present a real case application of optimization techniques in order to solve the location problem of electric charging stations in the district of Biella, Italy. The plan is composed by several progressive installations and decision makers pursue several objectives that might be in contrast. For this reason, we present an innovative framework based on the comparison of several ad-hoc Key Performance Indicators for evaluating many different aspects of a location solution.

Background: Key Performance Indicators are a common way of quantitative monitoring of project progress in modern companies. Although they are widely used in practice, there is little evidence on how they are set, and how many of them are used in large product development projects. Goal: The goal of this paper is to explore how KPIs are used in practice in a large company. In particular, it is explored whether KPIs are used continuously or only during short, predefined periods of time. It is also explored whether software-related KPIs are reported differently from non-software-related KPIs. Method: A case study of 12 projects at the Volvo Car Group in Sweden was conducted. The data from the project progress reporting on tools was collected and triangulated with data from interviews conducted with experts from the company. Results: KPIs are reported mostly before the milestones and the manual assessment of their status is equally important as the automated data provision in the KPI reporting system. The trend of reporting software-related KPIs is very similar to the non-software-related KPIs. Conclusions: Despite the documented good practices of using KPIs for project monitoring, it is difficult to develop a clear status-picture solely using quantitative data from progress reporting tools. It was also shown that the trends in reporting the software-related KPIs are similar to the trends in reporting the non-software related KPIs.

The metallurgical industry faces many challenges in the recent global, competitive, and turbulent business environment. Contemporary, a sustainability belongs among the most important approaches, which allows to reach a long-term success in the metallurgical industry. In this study, the sustainability is understood as a balanced integration of an economic, environmental, and social performance. The aim of the article is to identify and categorise the most often used sustainable KPIs and analyse methods of their evaluation in the metallurgical industry. Global Reporting Initiative standards, World Steel Association sustainable KPIs, and sustainability reports of three global metallurgical companies were used to carry out the comparative study. It has been confirmed an essential role of the economic dimension in the form of the direct and distributed economic value and a large importance of the environmental factors headed by materials, energy, emissions, and water KPIs. Although the distributed economic value includes all “responsible” investments, the metallurgical companies underline its economic sustainability using specific KPIs in the area of R&D, environmental and social investments. From the social point of view, the metallurgical industry focuses especially on the employment, health and safety, and employee training KPIs. Based on the analysis it can be also stated that there is no aggregate evaluation used in the analysed reports. Therefore, the article proposes system for the aggregate evaluation of sustainable KPIs based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The AHP is a multistage decomposition method that belongs among the large family of the multicriteria decision-making methods. Potential of AHP utilization in the sustainability measurement, analysis and evaluation was verified on the example of sustainability KPIs used by World Steel Association and its data series. The article has proven the AHP method is a suitable tool for the aggregate evaluation of sustainability and their dimensions, not only in metallurgical industry.

Aspekt społeczny odniesiono do kwestii zatrudnienia, zdrowia, bezpieczeństwa i szkoleń pracowników zatrudnionych w przedsiębiorstwach metalurgicznych.

In the growing market globalization, global competitions, where the customer demands are changing continuously the enterprises have to focus on cost reduction and efficiency. The measurement of processes and activities is very important, because if we can measure the performance of processes, we can improve it in the future. The measurement of processes and activities by KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) is frequently used in general business to evaluate historic data and identify the weak areas and define improvement areas and goals of the enterprise. The goal of this study is the performance measurement and evaluations of road freight transport activity, because the transportation is one of the most expensive logistical processes. At first the structure of 4 most common used transport metrics /time utilization, transport way utilization, weight of transported freight, fuel usage relating to vehicles and transport trips/ are elaborated, then the calculation method for these transport metrics is introduced. Based on the elaborated structure of transport indicators, evaluation software was developed which is also introduced in this article. This is the reason that this research is absolutely original and unique. The developed evaluation software was implemented successfully at a forwarding company.

Pomiar procesów i działań według kluczowych wskaźników efektywności (ang. Key Performance Indicators, KPI) jest często stosowany w przemyśle ogólnym w celu oceny danych historycznych, zidentyfikowania słabych obszarów, określenia obszarów i celów przedsiębiorstwa.
