In this article, the issues of MRP/ERP systems adoption to the needs and requirements of enterprises have been discussed. Technical properties of these systems are described as well as the methods and tools used to introduce changes and development in standard functional model. The issues of ERP systems customization have been presented on the example of project dedicated to a service - providing enterprise on the basis of periodically issued subscriptions. In the article, two examples of the customization of an integrated information system have been discussed. The first example shows the building of a new module (a module supporting the registration of trade contracts) and its integration with the standard components of the ERP package. The second example assumes adding new functions to the already existing payments-supporting module, e.g. archiving the history of contacts between the workers of the Debt Collection Department and the customers. The article describes a prototype solution created with the use of the programming environment of Navision Attain package. The issues connected with building individual software layers (presentation layer, project layer, code layer) have been considered. In the summary, threats and opportunities connected with the customization of the standard software packages have been discussed.
