In the paper investigation and modelling of magnetorheological elastomers have been presented. These materials belong to the group called "smart" becouse their mechanical properties may be controlled by applying external magnetic field. Investigated materials were made of thermoplastic elastomer matrix with randomly dispered iron particles. An influence of external magnetic field on ptoperties of the material were investigated on purpose-built test stand. All specimens were sheared.Applied magnetic values were from 0 up to 140 kA/m. To describe its properties elastoplastic model was selected.
