This paper presents the results of thermal insulation measurements of beds, bedclothes and pyjamas, which are usually used by patients in hospitals. It was observed that the greatest impact on thermal insulation of clothes and accessories sets used in hospitals has a bed, and the smallest – a pillow. Simultaneously with the increase of thermas insulation of used items the temperature at which users may feel comfort is reduced – up to 13.5 °C.

Headgears are one of the most important elements of individual protection against injury by the fall, slip or hit the protruding components. They also affect on the heat exchange between man and the surrounding environment, so their thermal insulation should be studied and taken into account when choosing this type of protection. The article presents information about the test method of thermal insulation of headgears and the verification of this method on the tested ballistic helmet.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę oceny środowiska zimnego zgodnie z zasadami opisanymi w PN-EN ISO 11079:2008 Ergonomia środowiska termicznego. Wyznaczanie i interpretacja stresu termicznego wynikającego z ekspozycji na środowisko zimne z uwzględnieniem wymaganej izolacyjności cieplnej odzieży (IREQ) oraz wpływu wychłodzenia miejscowego (oryg.). Procedurę obliczania przedstawiono na podstawie praktycznego przykładu.

This article presents a method of evaluating a cold environment according to the principles described in PN-EN ISO 11079:2008 "Ergonomics of the thermal environment. Determination and interpretation of cold stress when using required clothing insulation (IREQ), and the cooling effects [sic]." A practical example is used to present the calculation procedure.
