For over one hundred years, the avantgarde architecture has turned the crossing of borders into one of its goals, while innovation has become one of its fundamental axiological categories. Yet, the image of urbanized space does not seem to indicate that such tactics can be successful. The end result of the indiscriminate apology of technological progress and a striving toward falsely understood integration of the arts is conceptual and spatial chaos. The inevitability of the social involvement of architecture as an art is often unjustly negated - which results in narrowing rather than extending its boundaries.
