It's very well known in the signal processing community, that the Wigner-Ville Distribution (WVD) - a bilinear time-frequency representation - introduce some artifacts (cross-terms), while analyzing a multi-component signal. Even though the WVD has very good time-frequency resolution. But these cross-terms complicate both visual interpretation and extraction of required information from the WVD of the multi-component signal.
