The paper presents a sensorless control approach for a five-phase induction motor drive with third harmonic injection and inverter output filter. In the case of the third harmonic injection being utilised in the control, the physical machine has to be divided into two virtual machines that are controlled separately and independently. The control system structure is presented in conjunction with speed and rotor flux observers that are required for a speed sensorless implementation of the drive. The last section is dedicated to experimental results of the drive system in sensorless operation, and the uninterrupted drive operation for two open-phase faults.
The paper presents the sensorless five-phase induction motor drive implementation with an inverter output filter with third harmonic injection. For the sensorless operation, the required observers are presented for the first and third harmonics with consideration of the inverter output filter. Moreover, the interaction of the observers and the control system is capable to handle a deactivation of one or two phases, which improves the reliability of the complete drive system. A new idea of online open-phase fault detection is presented based on the frequency analysis of the estimated observer variables. The test setup, fault operation capabilities and an experimental verification of the proposed fault detection method are presented in the paper.

The work presents a fault detection method for an induction motor drive system with inverter output filter. This approach make use of a load torque state observer, which complete structure is presented along with the used control structure. Moreover, the demonstrated drive system operates without rotor speed measurement in conjunction with the multiscalar control. The verification of the demonstrated idea was performed on an experimental test setup by introducing drive faults, e.g.: misalignment of the machine and unbalance of the drive shaft. Finally,an FFT analysis of the presented results confirmed the beneficial usability of the developed diagnostic tool.

W pracy przedstawiono metodę diagnostyczną wykrywania uszkodzeń w napędzie elektrycznym silnika indukcyjnego z filtrem sinusoidalnym. Wyjaśniono ideę metody wykorzystującej obserwator stanu momentu obciążenia. Pokazano kompletne zależności obserwatora stanu oraz strukturę układu sterowania. Przedstawiony układ napędowy pracuje bez pomiaru prędkości obrotowej wykorzystując zasadę sterowania multiskalarnego. Weryfikację przeprowadzono na stanowisku laboratoryjnym wprowadzając uszkodzenia takie jak: nieosiowe ustawienie maszyn i niewyważenie wału. Zaprezentowane wyniki analizy FFT potwierdziły przydatność opracowanego narzędzia diagnostycznego.
