Zaprezentowano kierunki rozwojowe obliczeń rozproszonych oraz ich wpływ na realizację nowego typu systemów informacyjnych. Systemy te są naturalnie wkomponowane w środowisko pracy użytkowników. Przedyskutowano metody ich implementacji z wykorzystaniem architektury SOA (dostępnych usług). Podano reprezentatywny przykład takiego systemu, tzn. tablicę interaktywną realizowaną w zespole badawczym.

Developing trends of distributed computing and their impact on creation new types of information-processing systems are presented. These kinds of systems are naturally embedded in user environments. Suitable implementation methods based on SOA architecture (available set of basic services) are discussed. An representative example of such a system called interactive wall designed by our team is given.

The CrossGrid Project aims to develop new Grid services and a tool environment for a representative set of interactive compute- and data-intensive applications. This paper presents the architecture of the software and a description of the functionality of the main components. The new tools and grid services are based on the Globus Toolkit and the EU DataGrid middleware. CrossGrid develops and operates a large international testbed, where the developed applications, services and tools are deployed and run.
