Koncepcja Przemysłu 4.0 realizowana jest na podstawie wiedzy, narzędzi, optymalizacji i monitorowania wszystkich systemów produkcji. Opiera się nie tylko na technologiach, ale także na bezpośredniej interakcji ludzi z maszynami, co z kolei wiąże się z zapewnieniem odpowiedniego bezpieczeństwa w zakładzie. Nowoczesne rozwiązania nie tylko w znacznym stopniu zwiększają komfort pracy, ale co istotne nierzadko mogą uchronić pracownika od utraty zdrowia, a nawet życia.

The aim of this paper is to show that absence of industrial controllers with appropriate capabilities - in the literature pointed out as the main development-related barrier for industrial deployment of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) - is out of date. Trends in factory automation and the concept of Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC), which creates a promising perspective for industrial implementations of IMS, are briefly discussed. The results of a current phase of a project devoted to PAC-based IMS in a medium-size production company are presented. Experiments with an industrial testbed with limited functionality, used in a daily production process for 11 months, are described. Directions of the development of the system are discussed.

Content available remote Distributed Manufacturing Control: Models and Software Implementations

This paper describes two approaches to distributed control of discrete event manufacturing systems that have been developed at Cracow University of Technology. The first one applies Object Observable Petri Nets for modelling and analysis of manufacturing systems while the second one uses UML for system modelling and intelligent agents for design and implementation of control system. Software for distributed simulation and control have been developed for both concepts. This software have been tested in simulation environment and in laboratory test beds located in the Production Engineering Institute.

The paper presents the results of research & development done at the University of Žilina, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the area of Digital Engineering and simulation in the design of products and production systems. The digital technologies are used in innovation process of products and production systems. The paper describes the concept of Digital Factory being developed at the University of Žilina. Starting from the conceptual model of a product the whole chain of digital design processes of the given product and its production system are described. The digitization procedure is presented using 3D laser scanning technologies. The paper presents the theoreti cal research done in metamodelling based on computer simulation and used by the choice of the appropriate shop floor control system. The future research goals are presented as well.
