The aim of the study is to indicate the essence and increasing importance of the eco-innovations in the strategic activity of the enterprises as well as the potential benefits of eco-innovation for a long-term strategic objectives. The study systematize the knowledge on this topic, and indicate the necessity of their continuous development. The applied methodology is based on an analysis of available domestic and foreign literature. The function of innovation is to balance the product portfolio and maintain competitive advantages what enables to secure company’s financial inflows and build shareholder value in the long term. This is a new way of looking at the organisation, i.e. that looks at how innovation should be used for strategic advantage.

The aim of this article was to identify the attitudes of young consumers in Europe toward recycling campaigns of clothing companies. In the article, the results of own empirical research conducted among young consumers from Poland, France, and Spain in the fourth quarter of 2017 are presented. Recycling campaigns implemented by fashion brands, consisting of exchanging old cloths for discount vouchers, are an example of environmentally friendly innovations and fit into the concept of circular economy. The research results confirmed a minor engagement of young consumers in recycling campaigns of clothing companies. However, they declared the willingness to participate in such actions. According to the authors, an effective marketing communication strategy is fundamental to engage young consumers in clothing recycling and develop sustainable forms of clothing disposal. Clothing companies that are perceived as supporting the environment have a chance to reinforce the brand image.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę innowacji ekologicznych w energetyce jako czynnika konkurencyjności gospodarki. Przedstawiono w nim genezę pojęcia ekoinnowacja oraz określono kierunki i sposoby wdrażania ekoinnowacji w sektorach energetyki konwencjonalnej opartej o paliwa kopalne, jak i niekonwencjonalnej opartej o odnawialne źródła energii. Ponadto, wskazano w nim na znaczenie tego rodzaju innowacji dla konkurencyjności gospodarki jako całości.

The paper discusses the issue of ecological innovation in power engineering industry as a factor of economic competitiveness. It presents the origins of the concept of eco-innovation and specifies the directions and forms of implementation of eco-innovation in the sectors of conventional power engineering based on fossil fuels, as well as unconventional power engineering based on renewable sources of energy. Furthermore, the paper stresses the significance of eco-innovation for increasing the competitiveness of entire economy.

This paper examines the effect of environmental innovation on employment level, using an industry-level panel dataset for the 2001-2010 period in China. Empirical results show that environmental process innovation has a positive effect on employment, but with a time lag. Furthermore, the relationship between environmental innovation and employment is heterogeneous across dirty industries and clean industries in China. Based on the empirical result, this study derives some policy implications.

Artykuł dyskutuje wpływ innowacji środowiskowych na poziom zatrudnienia, w oparciu o bazę danych obejmującą lara 2001-2010, a odnoszącą się do Chin. Uzyskane rezultaty pokazują, że wprowadzanie ekologicznych innowacji ma pozytywny wpływ na zatrudnienie, jednak jest to widoczne dopiero w dłuższej perspektywie czasowej. Ponadto okazało się, że powiązania pomiędzy ekologicznymi innowacjami a zatrudnieniem są odmienne w odniesieniu do brudnych i czystych gałęzi przemysłu w Chinach. Przeprowadzone badania pozwalają na sformułowanie zaleceń na przyszłość.

The paper discusses the question of ecological innovation in manufacturing enterprises as an instrument for improving their competitive position. On the basis of the analysis of background literature, the origins of the concept of innovation and eco-innovation are presented, as well as typology of its forms used in practical operation of contemporary production firms.

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie innowacji ekologicznych (eko-innowacji) w przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych, jako instrumentów poprawy ich pozycji konkurencyjnej. Na podstawie analizy piśmiennictwa omówiono w nim genezę pojęcia innowacja i eko-innowacja, jednocześnie przedstawiający typologię ich form występującą w praktyce funkcjonowania współczesnych firm produkcyjnych.

Among the smart specializations on which the Podlaskie Voivodeship is going to build further development are eco-innovations. The article presents the most important issues related to eco-innovations, in the context of the analyzed region . The aim of the study was to describe the possibility of usage of eco-innovation to improve the competitiveness of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

This work presents the issues concerning connections between ecoinnovations and sustainable development in Poland and European Union. Innovations and sustainable development are of fundamental importance for the growth in economy. Sustainable development has been one of European priorities for a long time. At present it has acquired new significance in the light of the crisis connected with climate changes and the extensive financial crisis prevailing mainly in the USA and Europe. Still it is a great challenge for EU cities and regions. Also examined were little cooperation between entrepreneurs and people of science in the processes introducing modern technologies and expenditure on innovations.

An ideal society should take care about environment and that is why it should not product more than it is able to use. To achieve this aim this kind of society must use of new technologies of management such us recycling, ecological materials and more other. Some other changes should also be created to minimize bad influence on environment. The most important thing is making economy growing thanks to small part of natural forces, as small as possible. People should not take from ecosystem more than it can give. A green revolution is a priority in European countries and any crisis cannot change it. The economy must be balanced, because only this can bring a development. Ecological innovations and environmental technologies give a big chance for development.
