This article focuses on the competitive disadvantages of existing intermodal rail-road transport compared with road transport. The authors state that the domestic and continental combined freight transport system can be competitive in terms of both time and price with road freight transport. The new container transshipment device contributes to a new terminal structure on the freight rail-road transport market, considering environment protection requirements, and the concept has helped the logistics sector to become cost competitive. The scientific novelty is that the container transshipment robot enables new technical and organizational technology solutions for combined rail-road intermodal freight transport.

Przeobrażeniom i to w coraz szybszym tempie ulega praktycznie cały Świat. Do najbardziej dynamicznie zmieniających się obszarów na pewno należy zaliczyć Logistykę. Nowoczesna logistyka staje się coraz bardziej zintegrowanym procesem. Współczesny logistyk projektuje i wykonuje zadania optymalnego pokonywania czasu i przestrzeni, aby dostawa była wykonana zgodnie z oczekiwaniami klienta, wykorzystując do tego celu najnowsze zdobycze techniki i najnowsze technologie. Wiedza o najnowszych koncepcjach i rozwiązaniach oraz umiejętności ich właściwej implementacji na rzecz prowadzanych w firmie działań staje się jednym z zasadniczych elementów odniesienia sukcesu w obecnych uwarunkowaniach rynkowych. Jednak z całą stanowczością należy podkreślić, że przede wszystkim umiejętność dostrzeżenia współczesnych potrzeb, jak i uwarunkowań realizacji działań logistycznych, budowanie kultury organizacyjnej nastawionej na innowacyjność, zmiany w sposobach podejścia i rozwiazywania problemów tworzy perspektywę budowania przewagi i odniesienia sukcesu rynkowego na znacznie szerszych podstawach niż tylko czerpanie doświadczeń z know-how konkurencji.

Nowadays, practically the whole world is being transformed at an increasing rate. Certainly logistics belongs to one of the most rapidly changing areas. Today's logistics becomes more and more integrated process. A modern logistician designs and carries out tasks of optimal transcending time and space so that the delivery is made in accordance with the expectations of the client, using for this purpose the latest techniques and technologies. The knowledge on the latest concepts and solutions as well as the abilities of their proper implementation to conduct company's operations becomes one of the essential elements in achieving success in the current market conditions. However, it should be noted explicitly that it is primarily the ability to see contemporary needs as well as conditions for implementation of logistical activities, building organizational culture focused on innovativeness, changes in how to approach and resolve problems, that creates the prospect of building a competitive advantage and achieving market success on a much broader basis than just using the experience of the know-how of the competition.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie obszarów procesów logistycznych, które wymagają doskonalenia, a więc podjęcia działań innowacyjnych, które wprowadzane w sposób ciągły, zgodnie z filozofią Kaizen, uczynią te procesy bardziej wydajne, konkurencyjne i jakościowe. Przyjmuje się, iż procesy te najlepiej mogą zostać ocenione przez osoby bezpośrednio w nie zaangażowane. Jako metodę badawczą zastosowano ankietę, którą przeprowadzono wśród pracowników wybranego przedsiębiorstwa, światowego lidera w produkcji opakowań. Badany podmiot, jak każde przedsiębiorstwo, jest organizacją uczącą się, dlatego zgodnie z przyjętą filozofią Kaizen procesy te są ciągle doskonalone. W ankiecie umieszczono pytania umożliwiające dokonanie oceny rankingowej.

The paper addresses the problem of innovation in logistics. A distinction is made between the concepts of innovation, and innovation in logistics processes. Presents the essence and goals of innovation, presents selected classifications and types of innovation, management and innovation management model. The author has identified the areas of logistics processes, which require innovative activities, and defines the importance of the merits of introducing these innovations. The paper also identifies the areas of standardization in logistics processes. The results are presented in graphical and descriptive.
