Autorzy poruszają istotną z punktu widzenia Strategii Lizbońskiej oraz Strategii „Europa 2020” kwestię wzrostu konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw w oparciu o innowacje. Zwracają uwagę na pewne okoliczności świadczące o niskim stopniu zaangażowania polskich przedsiębiorstw sektora MŚP w działalność innowacyjną. Według badań PKPP „Lewiatan”, zaledwie w przypadku 0,2% polskich przedsiębiorstw omawianego sektora innowacyjne produkty i usługi mają decydujące znaczenie w rywalizacji z pozostałymi uczestnikami rynku. Celem artykułu jest próba analizy możliwości budowania przewagi konkurencyjnej na bazie innowacji. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na korzyści oraz problemy związane z wdrażaniem nowych rozwiązań. Dodatkowo poruszono kwestię funduszy typu Venture Capital/Private Equity jako sposobu finansowania innowacji z, w dalszym ciągu, mało popularnych źródeł rynku kapitałowego.

The authors raise an issue, important from the point of view of the Lisbon and Europe 2020 Strategies, i. e. the growth of the competitiveness of enterprises based on innovation. They draw attention to some circumstances, which show low degree of dedication of Polish small and medium-sized enterprises to innovation activity. According to PKPP,, Lewiatan” only in 0,2% Polish enterprises of the SME sector the innovative products and services play the most significant role in the competition with other market participants. The aim of the article is the attempt to analyze the ability of building competitive advantage based on innovation. In the article the authors draw attention to advantages and some problems concerning the implementation of innovation. Furthermore, Venture Capital Funds were mentioned as the way of financing innovations from still little popular sources of capital market.

The paper analyses the factors which contribute to the effective development of the high-tech sector. The case of Israel was chosen for the basis of the analysis due to the country's considerable achievements in the realm of high technology industry. The paper argues that consistently implemented government policies and programmes are crucial stymuli to the innovativeness of the economy. The role of technology transfer offices, as the intermediaries between the academia and industry in technology transfer process is discussed. An overview of the main areas and means of their operations, as well as commercialisation strategies are presented.

Artykuł przedstawia czynniki wpływających na rozwój sektora wysokich technologii na przykładzie Izraela. Analizowany przypadek pokazuje, iż dominującą rolę w kształtowaniu warunków dla dynamicznego rozwoju sektora high-tech odgrywają systematycznie wdrażane strategie i programy rządowe, uwzględniające specyficzne uwarunkowania kraju. W artykule zaprezentowano rolę podmiotów pośredniczących w transferze technologii pomiędzy sferą nauki i przemysłu, tzw. biur tranferu technologii funkcjonujących przy uniwersytetach. Wskazano główne obszary ich działania oraz strategie komercjalizacji wyników badań.
