Postbuckling of an Imperfect Plate Loaded in Compression

The stability analysis of a plate loaded in compression is presented. The non–linear FEM equations are derived from the minimum total potential energy principle. The peculiarities of the effects of the initial imperfections are investigated using the user computer code. Special attention is paid to the influence of imperfections on the post– critical buckling mode. The FEM computer program using a 48 DOF element has been used for analysis. FEM model consists of 4x4 finite elements. Full Newton-Raphson procedure has been applied.

W pracy opisano wyniki obliczeń statyczno-wytrzymałościowych pewnego konkretnego masztu z uwzględnieniem imperfekcji w postaci wstępnych krzywizn przęseł masztu. Podstawowym celem pracy było zbadanie, w jakim stopniu wstępne imperfekcje trzonu masztu wpływają na wytężenie elementów konstrukcji masztu. Zamieszczone uwagi i wnioski końcowe mają znaczenie praktyczne i mogą być wykorzystane w projektowaniu kratowych masztów z odciągami.

This paper describes the results of static-strength calculations of a real mast taking into account the initial imperfections in the form of initial mast span curves. The primary objective of the study was to examine to what extent the initial mast shaft imperfections influence the effort of structure elements of the mast. The remarks and conclusions are of practical importance and can be used in the design of guyed lattice masts.

The work refers to the problem of free vibrations and global instability of slender system with imperfections subjected to load by the force directed towards the positive pole. The inaccuracies in the systems are modeled assuming an initial curvature and the introduction of the eccentricity of an external load. On the basis of total mechanical energy, equations of motion and boundary conditions are determined. The relationship between the introduced inaccuracies for which the bending of the free end of the column has a finite value at load approaching critical load is determined. Curve courses of longitudinal bending are presented. The results of numerical calculations of the course of the natural frequency against external load for given geometry and physical constants of the column are presented.

W pracy rozważa się zagadnienie drgań własnych i niestateczności globalnej układu smukłego z imperfekcjami, poddanego obciążeniu siłą skierowaną do bieguna dodatniego. Niedokładności układu modeluje się zakładając wstępną jego krzywiznę oraz wprowadzając mimośrodowe przyłożenie obciążenia zewnętrznego. Na podstawie całkowitej energii układu wyznacza się równania ruchu oraz warunki brzegowe rozpatrywanego układu. Określa się relację między wprowadzonymi niedokładnościami, dla których ugięcie swobodnego końca kolumny ma wartość skończoną przy obciążeniu dążącym do obciążenia krytycznego. Prezentuje się wykresy przebiegu krzywych podłużnego zginania. Przedstawia się wyniki obliczeń numerycznych dotyczące przebiegu krzywych częstości drgań własnych w funkcji obciążenia zewnętrznego, dla zadanej geometrii i stałych fizycznych kolumny.

A double asymptotic method for the effect of local thickness defects and initial imperfections on the buckling problems of some mechanical systems is proposed. asymptotic formulas for the critical buckling load parameter are obtained with the perturbation technique.

W pracy zaprezentowano podwójnie asymptotyczną metodę szacowania wpływu początkowych zaburzeń strukturalnych i lokalnych uszkodzeń zmieniających grubość na wyboczenie wybranych układów mechanicznych. Zastosowane wyrażenia asymptotyczne pozwalające na określenie krytycznych parametrów wyboczenia otrzymano techniką perturbacyjną.
