The role of information system in the process of command has been described in the article. The author claims that ensuring a high effectiveness requires a precise definition of the information system, defining basic information sets in the system and elementary processes to ensure gaining necessary information sets and the constant information influx for selected command levels. Basing on general considerations concerning the choice of information system command, the author has attempted to define major conditions and problems connected with creating (restructuring) the subsystem of the air defence radio location reconnaissance.
