Spreadsheet as a means to support working time scheduling - data integrity in a spreadsheet tool

Spreadsheets are commonly used in nearly every organization. The tools created by their means may be used to support a multitude of diversified information processes handled in businesses. Such tools can be built in accordance with the concept of ‘Microtools Based on the Relational Data’. One of the problems that must be addressed while such a tool is being created is to ensure the integrity of the data stored in the tool. The article addresses a selection of solutions proposed and applied in this respect in a tool supporting a process in which the working time of maintenance department employees is scheduled.

Tools which support and automate the execution of information processes may be created in a spreadsheet by following the author’s signature concept of “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. While developing them, one must apply adequate solutions enabling representation of identified entities and ensuring data integrity as well as acquisition of the reports and collations assumed to be generated. This article addresses the problem of conformity between values of foreign keys in child entities and values of primary keys in parent entities. Four cases of relationships between a parent entity and a child entity have been discussed. One of the criteria that differentiates between these cases is the occurrence of a simple key or a composite key. Another applicable criterion is the sequence in which data are entered using the tool. With regard to all the identified cases, solutions that support data integrity have been presented and discussed. In accordance with the concept in question, the solutions proposed in the paper make use of standard spreadsheet features and components, without involving any additional code created in any programming language.

In this paper, description of a concept of cloud storage is offered. Cloud data storage is a model of an online storage where the data is being stored in multiple, divided between network servers that are provided for clients’ usage, mostly by a third-party company. The majority of the cloud storages (as opposed to file-exchangers) are offering almost boundless set of functions for free, by only limiting the size of the available storage (mostly a couple of gigabytes). Integrated data mining is being used for extracting potentially useful information from unprocessed data. The methods of data analysis are quite important with cloud computing. The implementation of the methods of integrated data mining inside the cloud will let the users receive the helpful information from non-structured or half-constructed web data sources. The main purpose of this work is to organize huge diverse data coming from different sources into clusters, depending on the type of data.

W artykule przedstawiono rozwiązania, które zostały zastosowane w celu Weryfikacji poprawności tworzonego planu, w narzędziu informatycznym wspomagającym proces układania planu zajęć dla kursu edukacyjnego. Zaprezentowane narzędzie stworzono w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym zgodnie z autorską koncepcją „Mikronarzędzi Bazujących na Relacyjnym Modelu Danych”. Określając założoną funkcjonalność rozwiązania, ustalono główne warunki, które muszą być spełnione, żeby gotowy plan mógł zostać uznany za poprawny. Za pomocą diagramu związków encji zgodnego z CASE – Method pokazano zidentyfikowaną dla przeanalizowanego zagadnienia strukturę danych. Przedstawiono sposób implementacji tej struktury w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym. W najistotniejszej części opracowania, szczegółowo opisano zaproponowane rozwiązania, które pozwalają na weryfikację wszystkich zidentyfikowanych warunków. W końcowej części artykułu zidentyfikowano wszystkie elementy arkusza kalkulacyjnego, które pozwoliły na uzyskanie założonej funkcjonalności.

The article presents solutions applied to verify the correctness of a timetable being developed using an IT tool supporting the process of timetable scheduling for an educational course. The tool being addressed was originally created in a spreadsheet by following the author’s signature concept of “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. In the part dedicated to establishing the functionality assumed for the solution in question, main conditions to be satisfied in order for the timetable to be verified as correct have been determined. The data structure identified for the problem analysed has been illustrated using the Entity Relationship Diagram in line with the CASE Method. The manner in which this structure is implemented in a spreadsheet has been discussed. The most important section of the study provides a detailed description of the proposed solutions enabling verification of all the pre-defined conditions. In closing paragraphs of the article, all spreadsheet elements which enabled the assumed functionality to be achieved have been identified.

W artykule przedstawiono propozycję narzędzia zgodnego z koncepcją „Mikronarzędzi bazujących na relacyjnym modelu danych” wspomagającego proces analizy niezgodności wyrobów walcowanych. W pierwszej kolejności omówiono sam proces analizy identyfikując rodzaje raportów, które w jego trakcie są opracowywane. Na podstawie analizy problemu zaproponowano strukturę danych dla tworzonego narzędzia. Zidentyfikowane w ramach tej struktury encje zostały scharakteryzowane a powiązania pomiędzy nimi zostały przedstawione na odpowiednim diagramie związków encji. W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono sposób implementacji encji w narzędziu, w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym a następnie zaprezentowano i omówiono przykładowe rozwiązania zastosowane w celu automatycznego wygenerowania zidentyfikowanych raportów. Założoną dla narzędzia funkcjonalność uzyskano przy wykorzystaniu wbudowanych funkcji arkusza bez konieczności tworzenia kodu w jakimkolwiek języku programowania.

The aim of this article has been to propose a tool developed in accordance with a concept referred to as “Microtools based on the relational data model” used to support the process of nonconformity analysis for rolled products. The first part of the paper provides a discussion on the analysis itself, and individual types of reports created in the process have been identified. Based on a problem analysis, a specific data structure has been proposed for the tool in question. The entities identified within this structure have been characterised, and the links functioning between them have been illustrated using an adequate entity relationship diagram. Another section of the paper is focused on implementation of the entities in the tool in a spreadsheet, followed by presentation and discussion of selected examples of solutions applied for purposes of automatic generation of pre-defined reports. The target functionality assumed for the tool has been attained using built-in spreadsheet features without being forced to create a code in any programming language.

In this paper, description of a concept of cloud Storage age is offered. One of the most practical methods of storing required information to cloud storage is also considered. Method of creating screenshots is proposed. Theoretical research is carried out and there are justified advantages and disadvantages of different methods of storing information in social networks. The best technique of creating screenshots has been practically implemented. Problems that might come up while working with approach given in this article and its solutions are stipulated. There is analyzed a necessity of setting a zoom parameter which is to transfer after transmitting size value of the picture in social networks. In the article the parameter that specifies the width of the final image and clearly affects the quality of the image is also considered. There is analyzed the effectiveness of creating an information system that saves time for such information processes as tracking the photo and its comments. In the paper the task of changing bets, which are not immediately fixed in social networks is optimized. Also there is implemented in practice a scalability problem of information processes in social networks. In the article a separation of the script is also put into practice. One part of which directly performs the request of image and downloads it to cloud storage. With help of another part the information process is transmitted on the photo where the user identifies.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań efektywności ekonomicznej ewidencji gruntów w wybranych powiatach oraz zmiany potencjalnej wartości podatku rolnego w następstwie udoskonalenia tego systemu informacyjnego. Jednym z kryteriów oceny efektywności ewidencji gruntów i budynków jest kryterium ekonomiczne – efektywność ekonomiczna (ekonomiczność). Efektywność ekonomiczna tego systemu działania może być opisywana w ujęciu stanu wyróżników kryterialnych. Zmiana istniejącego stanu każdego z nich mająca na celu podniesienie jakości danego systemu, wymaga poniesienia pewnych kosztów na zmianę istniejącego stanu i determinuje zmianę.

Issue of land information, the real and potential possibilities of its use and connected proprietorship, is the fundamental element of the rational management of the national economy that is mainly perceived in the context of realization of the different tasks connected with land use. Among the datasets, cadastral ones are of great significanc in the social – economic life of the country. Cadastre function is closely correlated with costs of its running understood as bringing it into compliance with both real and legal state, improvement of cadastral data quality and reaping the economic benefits of cadastral data availability and use in the practical activities. Introducing in our country the rules of the market economy together with the need for practical use of the experience of western countries in the area studies of effectiveness of LIS, bring about the need for the presentation of cadastre modernization issues from economic perspective that broaden former studies of cadaster concentrated on the technological and organizing issues. Regarding the state of studies of the issues in total, the essential scientific matters requiring solutions are identification of economic costs and benefits of cadaster function and determination of the trend of change of their values as the results of the system improvement of bringing cadastral databases into compliance with the real state. The aim of the paper is to present the results of the studies of the economic efficiency of cadastre in some selected areas of the second level of local government administration in Poland and the change of the potential value of the agricultural tax as the result of the improvement of the land information system.

The post-industrial society of the second half of the 20th century entered a new stage of existence, called the information era. Each component of the nation's power is currently becoming largely dependent on the freedom of information flow and keeping systems basing on information. The army, economy, energy, media, finances and transport are particularly connected with it. Paradoxically, there is not an explicit interpretation of the information notion, despite the fact that numerous linguistic forms are used in various grammar forms and thus meanings within this lexeme. The lack of canonical form of this lexeme (lemma) and explicit notional meaning assigned to it causes a lot of pragmatic confusion appearing in various forms of information communication. Thus creating a coherent frame of meaning is limited that could be used for catching and thought systematization of the information processes organizational side. The author attempts to solve this problem in the article and he presents his cognitive findings in this matter. He takes advantage of Marin Mazur's guidance and analyses the rich literature of the subject in question and lexicographic standards where its authors use the notion of information in different contexts. Applying an onomasiological approach, he identifies and systemizes the sets of designates assigned to this notion and on this basis he classifies terms used within this lexeme.

Artykuł prezentuje wybrane elementy z zakresu marketingu i etyki w obliczu procesów globalizacji i informatyzacji. Akcentowana jest teza, że do działań z zakresu marketingu i biznesu konieczna jest nowa orientacja, nowe podejście - uwzględniające nie tylko wartości ekonomiczne, finansowe, widziane głównie z perspektywy danej grupy interesu, ale również ważne są wartości społeczne., etyczne, i ekologiczne z punktu widzenia dobra ogólnego. Jest to szczególnie ważne w obecnych czasach globalizacji i informatyzacji., gdzie nowoczesne środki multimedialne mogą spotęgować jeszcze i przyśpieszyć wszelkie negatywne, jak i ewentualnie pozytywne skutki w zakresie działalności marketingowej i public relations. Kulturowe aspekty, do których odwołują się te działania, ulegają bowiem ciągłej korozji, a coraz bardziej perfidne metody oddziaływania socjotechnicznego perswazji zmieniają trwałe lokalne kultury.

The paper presents selected problems of marketing and ethics in the face of globalization and information. The stress is put on the idea a new approach to marketing and business activities is necessary. This approach should consider not only economical and financial values viewed by group of interest, but also social and ecological ones for the point of view of the common wealth. It is especially important today since modern multimedia tools can increase and accelerate all negative and, sometimes, positive results of marketing and public relations activities. Cultural aspects to which these activities refer undergo constant corrosion processes mainly because of particular and egoistic interests of large corporations. More and more perfidious methods of socio-technical influence and persuasion are crushing and changing local cultures.
