Different industries are modernising their systems and introducing innovations to their management practices. However, the construction industry is recognised for its lack of technological systems on which the success of this sector is deemed to be heavily dependent. Previous studies have focused on enhancing the off-site construction supply chain. However, studies on the importance and utilisation of technology in this sub-sector are scarce, predominantly where the efficiency of off-site supply chain management is stalled as a consequence of the slow implementation of technology. Thus, this article employs an exploratory approach by providing insight into the applicability of blockchain technology in New Zealand’s off-site construction and demonstrates the benefits associated with the adoption of this technology. A literature review was used to identify stakeholders’ interrelationships in different stages of prefabrication projects. Then, a pilot interview from industry experts followed by a questionnaire survey was used to determine the involvement of stakeholders in different phases and the benefits that blockchain technology can bring to this industry. The results indicate that using blockchain as a secure information management system could improve the integration of prefabrication supply systems by producing a collaborative atmosphere amongst the organisations involved.

W pracy podjęto tematykę integracji informacyjnej procesów przygotowania i realizacji produkcji. Wykorzystując standard XML, zaproponowano hierarchiczny opis wielowariantowych procesów wytwarzania. Przyjęty sposób budowy opracowanego formatu zapisu wielowariantowego procesu wytwórczego sprawia, iż zapis ten jest rozwiązaniem otwartym i skalowalnym. Dzięki temu nadaje się do bezpośredniego wykorzystania w rozproszonych, wieloagentowych systemach sterowania produkcją, które umożliwiają budowę rekonfigurowalnych systemów wytwarzania. Systemy takie odpowiadają współczesnym wyzwaniom ukierunkowanym na indywidualizację wytwarzanych produktów.

The article relates to process of information integration for preparation and execution of production. A hierarchical description of alternative manufacturing processes using XML is proposed. This concept presents open and scalable solution resulting from construction of applied data format. This makes it suitable for direct use in distributed, multi-agent manufacturing control systems that allow the construction of reconfigurable manufacturing systems. These systems meet today’s challenges focused on the individualization of manufactured products.

The use of the radio controlled network system in industrial tasks is a real fact. The new medium, according to its nature and characteristics improves new possibilities in the data transfer. The paper illuminates some basic problems concerning the wireless communication systems. Attributes and limitation are simply presented. Some rules and recommendations are formulated and elaborated. Three popular wireless standards (from ISM band) were used as an applicable example. The newest evolution conception of industrial wireless standards was pointed out.

Używanie sieci bezprzewodowych w środowiskach przemysłowych jest już powszechne. Ten nowoczesny środek komunikacji, ze względu na swoje właściwości, pozwala na wprowadzanie nowych metod przesyłania danych. W pracy przedstawiono podstawowe problemy pojawiające się przy bezprzewodowych systemach transmisji danych. Podano ograniczenia i główne cechy tej formy komunikacji. Przeprowadzono analizę problemów i przedstawiono niezbędne wymagania i zalecenia w tym zakresie. Omówiono przykłady trzech głównych standardów pracujących w paśmie nielicencjonowanym (ISN). Wskazano na nowe kierunki rozwoju standardów bezprzewodowych.

The research on interoperability testing and implementation methodology of IEC 61968 has been carried out for many years. But there are still many problems to be solved. This paper proposes a practical architecture for information exchange based on IEC 61968 to bridge the gaps between theory and practice. Some novel and original implementation technologies are elaborated covering model, profile, metadata and verification aspects. Finally the feeder data integration case for local utility business demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed architecture.

Appearance of flexible supply networks can be seen as a response to changes in global markets, being a step beyond the linear supply chain topography. However, when dealing with multiple organizations and multiple processes within a complicated network, identifying and locating a member that has responsibility and/or competence in a particular part of the network can be a laborious, time-consuming process. Knowledge sharing is aimed to assist in solving this problem. The approach presented is based on application of such technologies as ontology and context management, constraint satisfaction and profiling. Ontologies provide for semantic interoperability between flexible supply network members. Usage of the context makes it possible to consider current situation in order to provide for actual knowledge or information. Competence profiles of the supply network members facilitate knowledge sharing and simplify partner selection. They allow formalizing and sharing member's knowledge and competencies. Constraints are used for knowledge description. This enables usage of constraint solvers for finding solutions in various situations.
