This paper presents in general, the issue of logistics information and systems processing it in logistics chains. The concept of logistic information was defined and the main types were discussed, with particular emphasis on information associated with logistic facilities, such as warehouses. Thereafter, a three-level model of the information processing system in the logistics chain was presented and elaborated upon. The importance of new, primary concepts in the field of logistics information – Logistics 4.0 and Internet of Things as well as the resulting concept of decision centres scattered to the equipment layers of logistic systems were reviewed. The summary contains probable development trends in the five most important areas of logistics information processing in the future.

W artykule przedstawiono system kodów liniowych i system kodów matrycowych, opisano zasady ich tworzenia i odczytywania. Dokonano analizy porównawczej tych kodów oraz omówiono ich zastosowanie w logistyce. Przybliżono również zasady funkcjonowania międzynarodowego systemu GS1 (d. EAN/UCC), opisano jego możliwości, funkcjonalność i wykorzystanie.

A particular role in the management of the contemporary enterprise is played by information. Knowledge gained on the basis of the above directly influences the effectiveness of the functioning on the dynamically changing market. The necessity of taking decisions, which are quick and, which is important, loaded with the smallest possible risk, causes that the achieved information should be characterized by the optimum quality. It must be up-to-date, credible or generally useful. The field of the competitive fight, in this area, is information logistics. Its optimization is to bring about an increase in the performance of the organization and, simultaneously, the achievement of competitive advantage.

W artykule poruszono zagadnienie możliwości stosowania narzędzi analizy danych gospodarczych w celu pozyskania informacji logistycznych. W grupie tych narzędzi są sztuczne sieci neuronowe. W artykule przybliżono i krótko omówiono zasady funkcjonowania sieci neuronowych. Podano również ich podstawowe zalety. Opisano możliwości szerokiego ich stosowania, jak również obszary i zadania, w których się nie sprawdzają. Obszarem szerokich zastosowań sieci neuronowych jest prognozowanie i planowanie. W prezentowanym opracowaniu podjęto próbę wykorzystania ich do przygotowania prognozy popytu. Prognozę opracowano dla dwóch grup asortymentowych towarów. Uzyskany wynik prognozy poddano następnie ocenie. Ocenę przeprowadzono poprzez porównanie otrzymanej prognozy z rzeczywistym popytem. Uzyskane wyniki są podstawą zawartych w opracowaniu wniosków na temat użyteczności tej grupy narzędzi prognostycznych w badanym obszarze.

The issue of possibility of the tools applying of the economic data analysis in order to gain the logistic information was raised in the article. Artificial neural networks are in the group of these tools. Functional principles of neural networks were introduced and shortly discussed in the article. Their basic advantages were also given. Possibilities of their wide applying were described as well as the areas and tasks in which they don’t come true. Forecasting and planning are the area of the wide use of neural networks. The attempt of using them to preparation of demand forecast was undertaken in the presented study. The forecast worked out for two groups of assortment goods. The result of the forecast was subjected to the assessment then. The assessment was conducted by the comparison of the received course with the real demand course. Received results are the basis contained in the study conclusions on the topic of the usefulness of this group of forecasting tools in the studied area.

The paper is focused on the description of the project, which is oriented to the application of information logistics in a particular environment of company engaged in the rail freight. The aim and the main benefit of the project is to increase the information support for an entity that implements a service information for the target group of customers who need to keep track of where desired material is found. The research is based on a model application of automatic identification systems to precisely defined physical models created for this purpose. Model represents a particular scale railway junction in which there is a redeployment of wagons. The model will be validated behavioural assumptions RFID chips select and define the appropriate chips for specific environment and technical solutions to their location and anchoring. Subsequently, the knowledge and the information verified in the real environment of rail freight. The project involved three research institutions: Transport Research Institute, JSC., Technical University of Košice and University of Žilina.
