Moisture measurement in solid samples using Raman spectroscopy

In this paper, design and experimental testing of a device for measuring moisture in the near infrared region and exploring opportunities of reflective method of measuring the solid samples, are presented. Methods with the most practical real-time usage is Raman spectroscopy, technique based on the effect that frequencies of photons in monochromatic light change after interaction with the sample induced by laser in the visible spectrum. This shift in frequency provides information about transitions in molecules, what is used in study of solids characteristics.

Przedstawiono projekt i badanie eksperymentalne urządzenia do pomiaru wilgotności w obszarach bliskich podczerwieni. Zbadane zostały możliwości wykorzystania metody odbić w pomiarze próbek. Metody z najbardziej praktycznym wykorzystaniem czasu rzeczywistego oparte są na spektroskopii Ramana, technice bazującej na zmianie częstotliwości fotonów w monochromatycznym świetle po interakcji z próbkami indukowanymi przez laser w widzialnym spektrum. Zmiana częstotliwości dostarcza informacji o przejściach w molekułach używanej w badaniach ciała stałego. (Pomiar wilgotności w próbkach masywnych przy użyciu spektroskopii Ramana).

The behaviour of Pb activation peaks, which appear in an X-ray spectrum of Fast Neutron Activation Analysis (FNAA) performed by means of a Plasma Focus (PF) neutron source and an NaI scintillator counter, has been studied. The PF device generates neutron bursts of different intensities. To know the exact neutron flux illuminating a sample during PF discharges an external neutron counter is usually used. The nature and behaviour of the indicated peaks suggest that one could use one of them as an internal standard for neutron production measurement instead of an external counter. This technique allows more reliable and accurate determinations of the presence of various elements.

The existence of moments of solutions to transport equations with inelastic scattering and thie applications in the asymptotic analysis

In this paper we prove the existence of all moments of the solutions to the time-dependent spatially homogeneous transport equation describing elastic and inelastic scattering of particles. The proof uses the theory of resolvent positive operators and Desch's perturbation theorem. As an application we carry out the asymptotic analysis of the full transport equation with dominant elastic scattering and, using the results of the first part of the paper, we show that its solution can be approximated in the L1-norm by the solution of the limit equation obtained by formal asymptotic expansion.
