Content available remote Shelf space allocation models in retail enterprise
EN
Shelf space is a limited and very expensive resource as a lot of products are presented in a retail store. Shelf space is used in retail enterprise for multiple purposes e.g. allocation of products, ensuring brand visibility, improving customers satisfaction etc. This paper proposed two new practical shelf space allocation models which may be used in retail enterprise helping the retailer to increase gained profit. Both models enrich basic shelf space allocation problem with complicated merchandising rules such as allocation of product on different vertical levels according their price subcategories (1st model) and allocation of products in different shelf segments based on the products types, brand, weight, and package (2nd model).

The paper deals with the implementation of computer simulation in the assembly plant in terms of an innovative solution for new production planning, workflow optimisation and cost-effectiveness. The paper describes the creation of a simulation project in which a simulation model of the assembly line was created to determine the use of the final assembly operator. Based on the results, an experiment was designed, in which variants (in the simulation model) with different employee utilisation were created. The simulation results from each variant were compared and the variant with a higher percentage of employee utilisation was selected. The selected variant was economically evaluated in terms of effective use of labour costs.

Managing quality of education is difficult and diversified task. Certainly, at the very center of quality assurance is experience that students and graduates get throughout their education course. One of the factors influencing these experiences are teaching methods. The objective of the paper is to assess the experience of Workplace Safety and Hygiene master program students of with regard to teaching and learning methods and Industry 4.0 readiness. The objective is realized through interpretation of the survey results that was made within MSIE4.0 project among the students of different industrial engineering master programs. Additionally, the program and courses documentation is interpreted in accordance to the 'LOVE' model approach to assess education experience. The sample of the survey is based on MSc students of Workplace Safety and Hygiene that are held at Częstochowa University of Technology. As the study shows, there are some drawbacks of the program with regard to immersive approach to learning and more active students engagement. The readiness to Industry 4.0 requirements is not really visible and some purposeful actions should be made in order to make the program part of activities addressing this economic and social challenge.

Industry 4.0, in the context of revolution, relates to changes in the industry but actually it does not begin or end with it. The most important in the whole process of digitization and intelligent solutions is the human factor. In fact, everything begins with it: design, creation, service and everything ends: implementation, interpretation of results, improvement through previous experiences. Therefore, what should the employee that will meet the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 be like? The objective of the paper is to create the profile of the employee 4.0 who, in the education process, uses learning methods and teaching concepts so that they could satisfy the requirements set by the revolutionized economy. The reference point will be the use of the research conducted by the consortium members under the project of MSIE-CBHE, which is Erasmus+Curriculum Development of Master’s Degree Program in Industrial Engineering for Thailand Sustainable Smart Industry (MSIE4.0) funded by the European Commission the authors of the publication also belong to.

Automation and robotization is considered to be a key determinant of the development and innovation in manufacturing enterprises. But the scope and range of its implementation is changing due to ongoing fourth industrial revolution towards Industry 4.0. The objective of the paper is to analyze the needs of manufacturing enterprises with regard to automation and robotization but from the perspective of desired competences of Industrial Engineering graduates. To achieve the objective the results of industrial survey are analyzed. The survey was made among Thai and EU companies within the project titled Curriculum Development of Master’s Degree Program in Industrial Engineering for Thailand Sustainable Smart Industry-MSIE4.0. The results show that the requirements towards graduates are changing especially with reference to real-time control of manufacturing process, big data use and mobile devices use to steer and feed with the information the management and manufacturing processes.

Application of methods and tools of industrial engineering is from our experience often disconnected from the strategy and core activity of the company and this influences the possibility to get synergic effect for entrepreneurship and for all stakeholders including environment and future. For capturing the synergies, it is imperative to implement system approach on the all levels of management and to create innovative environment. Objective of papers is twofold. Firstly, it gives a comprehensive overview of the most used methods and tools in industrial engineering to improve quality and effectiveness in context the sustainable development. Secondly, it gives a deep insight in application of before introduced methods in companies in Slovakia featuring discussions on cross-disciplinary cutting policy issues from the management perspective, such as economical, environmental and societal impact on the stakeholders and environment.

This paper deals with transformation of the customer's requirements into the specified technical parameters by means of the QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method on condition that the customer disposes of basic technical knowledge. The relevant technical parameters are describing an engineering product, which is chosen from the automotive industry area. The QFD method enables elaboration of the individual functions of quality using a multi-phased mapping process in order to transform efficiently the customer's requirements into the real technical parameters of the given product. The chosen technical product is the petrol engine 1.2 Ecotec® installed in the passenger car and it is working in the functional connection with 5 stage manual gearbox. This article analyses in detail only the first phase of the petrol engine production, taking into consideration the given technical requirements. The following step of this process is the next phase, which is focused on the engine aggregates, further it is the phase of the engine aggregate production and the final phase is the global production.
