A novel, simple, robust, and rapid reversed-phased high-performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the separation and quantitative determination of the related substances of ezetimibe and simvastatin in combined dosage forms. Successful separation of the drug from the process-related impurities and degradation products formed under stress conditions was achieved on Inertsil ODS-3V (150 × 4.6 mm, 5.0 μm) column. The gradient liquid chromatography (LC) method employs solution A and solution B as mobile phase. The solution A contains 0.1% orthophosphoric acid solution in water, and solution B contains 0.1% orthophosphoric acid solution in acetonitrile. Flow rate was monitored at 2.0 mL/min, and the ultraviolet (UV) detection, at 238 nm. In forced degradation studies, the effect of acid, base, oxidation, UV light, and temperature was investigated, showing that good resolution between the peaks corresponds to process-related impurities and degradation products from both analyte. The performance of the method was validated according to the present International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines for specificity, limit of detection, limit of quantification, linearity, accuracy, precision, ruggedness, and robustness. To the best of our knowledge, a rapid LC method, which separates all the impurities of ezetimibe and simvastatin in combined dosage forms, disclosed in this investigation was not published elsewhere.

W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty badań mających na celu identyfikację zanieczyszczeń, które mogą się znajdować w popiołach lotnych dostarczanych do producentów materiałów budowlanych. W prowadzonych badaniach wykorzystano głównie metodę dyfrakcji rentgenowskiej XRD. Stwierdzono, że obecne w popiołach lotnych zanieczyszczenia nie pochodzą z procesu wytwarzania popiołów w elektrowniach i elektrociepłowniach, ich źródłem jest środek transportu lub magazyn przejściowy.

In this paper the results of identification of impurities in fly ashes delivered to manufacturers. In this study, mainly used powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that present in the fly ashes impurities do not come from the manufacturing process in power plants and thermal-electric power stations. Their source is the means of transport or transitory magazine.

TlBr single crystals grown using the vertical Bridgman-Stockbarger method were characterized for semiconductor based radiation detector applications. It has been shown that the vertical Bridgman-Stockbarger method is effective to grow high-quality single crystalline ingots of TlBr. The TlBr single crystalline sample, which was located 6 cm from the tip of the ingot, exhibited lower impurity concentration, higher crystalline quality, high enough bandgap (>2.7 eV), and higher resistivity (2.5 × 1011 Ω·cm) which enables using the fabricated samples from the middle part of the TlBr ingot for fabricating high performance semiconductor radiation detectors.

A simple ion chromatographic (IC) method was developed and validated for simultaneous or individual determination of zoledronic, alendronic, pamidronic acids and their related substances in pharmaceutical formulation. The analytes were separated on Waters IC-Pak Anion HR analytical column with a nitric acid (3 mM) without any other additives, as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min−1. Inverse UV detection was used at 240 nm. Important chromatographic factors that influence the chromatography responses were screened by 11/12 Pluckett–Burman design and their interaction were assayed by 23 full factorial design. The RP-HPLC method was optimized with the aid of LC-Simulator® (ACD Labs, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) software. Validated method was successfully used for quantitative analysis of PAMIFOS®, concentrate for infusion (Habitfarm AD, Ivanjica, Serbia), ZOMETA®, powder for infusion (Novartis Pharma, Stein AG, Switzerland) and BONAP® tablets (Hemofarm, Vrsac, Serbia). Total chromatographic analysis time per sample was approximately 6 min, which represents significant improvement over existing methods. Validation studies revealed that the method is specific, rapid, reliable, and reproducible. Calibration plots were linear over the concentration ranges 20–120 μg mL−1 and 0.1–2 μg mL−1 for bisphosponates and their related substances, respectively. The LODs were 8.7, 4.7, 2.5, 0.026 and 0.011 μg mL−1 for alendronate, pamidronate, zoledronate, phosphoric acid and phosphorous acid, respectively.

Opisano budowę i zasadę działania wodnej osadzarki pulsacyjnej typu KOMAG do przerobki kruszyw mineralnych. Przedstawiono jej podstawowe parametry techniczne. Pokazano możliwości zastosowania osadzarki typu KOMAG w procesach pozyskiwania żwiru i piasku z jednoczesnym wydzieleniem zanieczyszczeń organicznych i mineralnych. Omowiono wyniki pracy osadzarki wydzielającej zanieczyszczenia organiczne z nadawy żwirowo-piaskowej w warunkach kopalni.

The new water pulsated jigs type KOMAG are designed to separate the sand-and-gravel feed into two products of grain sizes of 16-2(0) mm and to separate mineral and organic impurities from the obtained aggregate. An operation of the jig is based on a typical gravity separation of minerals and consists in a stratification of suitably prepared feed in the water pulsating environment, according to components size analysis and density. Proper operation of the jig is guaranteed by the electronic control system, chich enables to control the water pulsation characteristic as well as the collection of washed gravel. Additional equipment of the jig is as follows: screw compressor and air blower. Rated output of the pulsated jig, which depends on sand content in the feed (max 35%), for the operational surface of 4 m2 is 80-100 t/h. Innovative electronic control system (SES) enables to select the water pulsation characteristics, depending on technological parameters of the feed by use of electro-pneumatic drive (pulsated drive), as well as controls the gravel collection by electric pulses provided by the float sensor.

The behaviour of structural defects is still one of the major problems in multicrystalline silicon. The properties of solar cells made from these materials are mainly determined by dislocations, grain boundaries and intragrain defect impurities such as oxygen and carbon. Interactions between dislocations and impurities are also an important factor influencing the minority carrier diffusion length and then multicrystalline solar cells performances. In this paper, the effect of dislocations on minority carrier diffusion length is analysed and discussed. We carried out the calculation on the cell efficiency of multicrystalline silicon solar cell obtained from wafers cut put of ingots grown by Polix of Photowatt and Sitix of Sumitomo. A comparison between solar cells efficiency for the two materials outlined above is presented. Performances of the cells are estimated according to the last technological processes developed. The analyses have also been carried out to optimize solar cell performances by combining the effect of a double antireflection coating and back surface field.

Celem badań było opracowanie metody ilościowej analizy profilowej GD OES oznaczenia zawartości pierwiastków stopowych i zanieczyszczeń w metalicznych powłokach na bazie cynku. Opracowano procedurę badawczą obejmującą oznaczanie grubości powłok oraz zawartość sześciu pierwiastków metodą GD OES na spektrometrze Polyvac 2000 GDS.

The aim of the tests was to develop the GD OES quantitative depth profile analysis method for determination of the contents of alloy elements and impurities in metallic zinc-based coatings. A testing procedure that included determination of the coating thicknesses and the contents of six elements by GD OES method using Polyvac 2000 GDS spectrometer was developed.
