Based on the matching perspective, an analytical framework including external search strategy, organisational improvisation and structural flexibility is established. The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of external search strategy on firm innovation. The results show that, first, market information search has a positive impact on innovation quality and innovation speed. Secondly, the influence of technical knowledge search on innovation quality is moderated by organisational improvisation and structural flexibility. Thirdly, technical knowledge search has a positive impact on the innovation quality of enterprises. Fourthly, technical knowledge search has a positive impact on the innovation speed of enterprises.

Przedmiotem przedstawionych w artykule badań jest metoda kształtowania przestrzeni nazywana tutaj improwizacją architektoniczną1. W takim podejściu do projektowania kluczową rolę odgrywa tzw. intuicja ekspercka. Jest ona tutaj rozumiana jako forma pamiętania wzorców uprzednio zinternalizowanych i manipulowania nimi w celu znalezienia w szybki sposób efektywnego i innowacyjnego rozwiązania. Wielodziedzinowy przegląd literatury w zakresie psychologii, nauk kognitywnych, ekonomii, teorii architektury i estetyki oraz badania interpretacyjno-historyczne wraz z argumentacją logiczną umożliwiły konceptualizację znaczenia intuicji w procesie improwizacji architektonicznej.

The subject of presented in the paper research is the method of spatial design, which is here called architectural improvisation. It covers issues related to the design approach, which focuses on activating the mechanisms of expert intuition. It is understood here as a form of remembering previously internalized patterns and manipulating them in order to quickly find an effective and innovative solution. A multidisciplinary review of the literature in the field of psychology, cognitive sciences, economics, architectural theory and aesthetics as well as interpretative and historical research together with logical argumentation enabled conceptualization of the meaning of intuition in the process of architectural improvisation.

The game is a particular aspect of human activity, organized and limited by rules, with a result, though not a material outcome. In the process of creating architecture we undertake activities associated with the notions of fun and game. This also, or primarily, applies to architectural education, which, in short, free forms seeks experience and inspiration for further, serious design solutions.

Gra jest szczególnym przejawem ludzkiej aktywności, zorganizowanym i ograniczonym regułami, przynoszącym rozstrzygnięcie, choć nie materialny rezultat. W procesie tworzenia architektury podejmujemy szereg działań budzących skojarzenia z zabawą i grą. Dotyczy to także, a może przede wszystkim, edukacji architektonicznej, która w krótkich, niezobowiązujących formach poszukuje doświadczenia i inspiracji dla późniejszych, poważnych rozwiązań projektowych.
