Energy security in transportation and its impact on the environment are two closely related issues and main challenge for the modern economy. It involves ensuring stable and sustainable energy supplies for the transport sector while minimizing its negative impact on the environment. In the face of increasing climate threats, geopolitical instability, and the depletion of fossil fuels, there is a growing emphasis on the development of clean technologies and alternative energy sources. In this article, the author presents an energy-based description of the functioning of transport means, a holistic approach to the operation of transport systems, key aspects of energy security in transportation, the impact of transport on the environment, and solutions for and the future of energy-efficient, sustainable transport.
