The idea of sustainable development did not appear in the eighteenth century for ecological reasons to save the environment or humanitarian reasons to save humanity, but for economic reasons to improve the management of forests and fossil resources. Its creator was Hans Carl v. Carlowitz (1645-1714), a Saxon tax accountant and mining administrator. The idea has always served an economic purpose – constant economic growth as well as increase of productivity and profit. Therefore, it worked best in the sphere of management. Over time, it turned out that one could achieve better economic effects. when one combines economic goals with those that people have always strived for – to create a better world, life and interpersonal relations. This requires care for the good condition of the natural and social environment. Consequently, the idea of sustainable development was coupled with the goals of ecology and sozology. Unfortunately, for various reasons, the modern world is less and less conducive to achieving these goals. Therefore, one can increasingly difficult implement the postulates of sustainable development, even in the sphere of economy. It has become clear that sustainable development is not a panacea for all the ills of the world. The idea of this unrealizable development turned into a myth and a tool to manipulate people's feelings and dreams of a better life. With their help, one mobilizes people to higher and higher productivity, which generates an increase in the enrichment of the financial elite and to the accompanying to it deepening of social inequalities, which are the source of all the evil.

Carlowitz (1645-1714), saksoński księgowy podatkowy i za-rządca górniczy. A to wymaga troski odobry stan środowiska przyrodniczego i społecznego.

Optimisation of the dynamic response of gimbal seeker plays key role from the point of view of development of anti-tank guided missile’s systems. In this study the set of the most important internal disturbances were integrated in generalized model of two axis gimbal seeker implemented in MathWorks’ Simulink environment. Compared to previous works on the subject, it was enhanced by replacing simple friction model with dynamic LuGre friction. Furthermore, its Coulomb component was linked to the normal force induced by missile’s lateral acceleration. Control system of gimbal seeker proposed in paper was tuned with modelled disturbances turned off and then examined with them being turned one by one. System’s responses were assessed to be significantly deteriorated, proving need of disturbance modelling and its use in control systems’ design.

Identification of cervical metastatic lymph nodes (LN) on I-131 post-ablation whole-body planar scans (WBS) for cancer staging is crucial for patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). The existing deep network is plagued by instability in finding the under-represented LN classes on highly complex WBS, where end-to-end tuned models that can account for this uncertainty region for multi-class locations are needed. Hence, as a key contribution of this study, we designed a novel leveraging segmentation network with input guidance (LSIG) end-to-end training model without pre and post-processing features that can learn ideal parameter settings depending on the quantity of multiple-object instances. To improve the co-occurrence of classes and control the false positive regions, we proposed a re-weighting negative control (RNC) mechanism that combines two key components, namely the re-weighting (Rw) term and the negative control function (NcF). This unified approximation of weighted training would leverage the network to control and learn the desired weights of true positives towards the LN region. As an end-to-end network training, we utilize a Unet-like convolution neural network (CNN) model. The performance of the LSIG is compared with the CNN-based networks, based on the ground truth (GT) mask developed using post-ablation single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT). Furthermore, the effectiveness of the two components used in the LSIG framework is evaluated on WBS datasets. Our proposed LSIG with a fully guided (Fg) LS-FgCNN model yielded a superior performance with high AUC value of 94.9%, which is 14.6% higher than the previous network for PTC.

Using the example of washing machines using the linear theory of vibrations, the dynamics of horizontal rotary drum machines is investigated and the basic requirements for their layout are formulated to reduce vibration activity. The mathematical equations of vibrations of the multiply connected system tub-drum on elastic suspensions are compiled for main types of washing machines and centrifuges with horizontal axis of rotation. The problem is solved in a linear setting based on the Lagrange equation of the second kind. The accuracy and adequacy of the mathematical model was tested directly on a full-scale object by measuring noise, vibrations, support forces and stress distribution in individual elements and units of the washing machine in the entire range of drum rotation frequencies. Investigations of the nature of system vibrations depending on changes in the position and attachment points of elastic and damping elements were carried out using simulation in the Simulink environment. As a result of the research, the basic requirements for the layout of horizontal rotary drum machines were experimentally confirmed. Experimental verification was carried out to confirm the results obtained. It has been experimentally proven that the improvement of the experimental setup to reduce its vibration activity increases the efficiency of using direct-acting liquid autobalancers.

The problem of self-synchronization of a three-axis vibrating mill with four unbalance vibrators, which are actuated by independent asynchronous motors and have the same angular velocities, is considered in the paper. In self-synchronization, synchronization and phase matching of the vibrator is achieved due to the vibration of the system of bodies on which the vibrator is installed, that is, by providing a dynamic connection between them.

The article is devoted to applying the concept of early detection of pathological crisis processes to analyze the dynamics of Ukrainian agriculture development in 2003-2011. The analysis is based on time series of the export, import, production volume, export and import prices for agricultural products, volume of loans and investments. Despite the fact that the only branch that demonstrated the growth of output in 2008-2009 was agriculture, there were observed four years of crisis in agriculture during the period under consideration. The built signal panel and structural and logical model of pathological crisis processes detection in agriculture of Ukraine showed that the leading role was played by the investment balance deficit, reduction of the technological level of exports compared to imports and growth of domestic production credit bubble.

In this paper, the detection of mines or other objects on the seabed from multiple side-scan sonar views is considered. Two frameworks are provided for this kind of classification. The first framework is based upon the Dempster–Shafer (DS) concept of fusion from a single-view kernel-based classifier and the second framework is based upon the concepts of multi-instance classifiers. Moreover, we consider the class imbalance problem which is always presents in sonar image recognition. Our experimental results show that both of the presented frameworks can be used in mine-like object classification and the presented methods for multi-instance class imbalanced problem are also effective in such classification.

Balancing is the process of improving the mass distribution of a body so that it rotates in its bearings without unbalanced centrifugal forces. It is thus critical to the performance of any high speed equipment. The problem is mathematically modeled and a genetic algorithm is presented for obtaining optimal solutions for balancing problems on rotating shafts. This is eventually converted into computer package titled BALANCER, developed using the VisualBASIC platform. Examples are presented to illustrate implementation of the methodology. The model was tested by using typical problems, correctly solved in the literature using conventional methods. The results of the three examples gave same match with those obtained from analytical approach. The accuracy of analysis using the model and the students' feedback suggest that integration of the software tool will be beneficial for improving students' performance in any dynamics course.

The dynamic behaviour of an imbalanced and warped Jeffcott rotor with asymmetric stiffness was studied theoretically and experimentally. The rotor response was analyzed and discussed under different rotating speeds and angle ranges between the directions of the bend and imbalance. It was noted that the angle between the directions of the warp and the imbalance plays a key role in controlling the rotor response and effect of the angle varied by the magnitude of bend. If the angle is larger than [...] and smaller than [...] in radian, the rotor response will decrease due to imbalance. Particularly for sufficiently large angles, the response amplitude will decrease with increasing rotating speed. This effect will take place before passing the first critical rotating speed, if the magnitude of the warp is smaller than the eccentricity; and will take place after passing the first critical rotating speed, if the magnitude of the warp is larger than the eccentricity. A double frequency response also happened in an imbalanced rotor with initial bow and asymmetric stiffness; the supposed stationary response will lose its stability as the rotating speed lies in the range between the first two critical speeds. Good agreement was achieved between the numerical solutions and the experimental results to verify the proposed model capability, which may contribute to the diagnosis of asymmetric stiffness and the residual warp of the rotor.
