Paper presents the concept of applying image segmentation algorithms for precise extraction of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from CT brain scans. Accurate segmentation of the CSF from the intracranial brain area is crucial for further reliable analysis and quantitative assessment of hydrocephalus. Presented research was aimed at the comparison of effectiveness of three modern segmentation approaches used for this purpose. Specifically, random walk, level set and min-cut/max-flow algorithms were considered. The visual and numerical comparison of the segmentation results leads to conclusion that the most effective algorithm for the considered problem is level set, although the positive medical verification of the results revealed that either of considered algorithms can be successfully applied in the diagnostic applications.

W artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze elementy algorytmu obrazu oka. Algorytm ten przeznaczony jest dla systemu identyfikacji osób w oparciu o wzór tęczówki oka, ale moze też być zastosowany w okulistyce. W artykule zaprezentowano również wybrane przez autorów narzędzia programistyczne pomocne w implementacji zaproponowanego algorytmu. Podano zarówno zastosowane biblioteki języka C++, jak również przedstawiono inne przydatne narzędzia, takie jak np. system kontroli wersji.

W artykule zaproponowano nowy algorytm segmentacji oparty na statystycznej regule decyzyjnej k - najbliższych sąsiadów zaprojektowany specjalnie do zastosowań a systemach ilościowej analizy obrazów. Przedstawiono jego opis matematyczny oraz wyniki przeprowadzonych z jego udziałem testów w rzeczywistych przemysłowych systemach ilościowej analizy obrazów.

New image segmentation algorithm based on k - nearest neighbours statictical decision rule is presented in this paper. This algorithm were especially developed for use in quantity image analysis systems. There is presented mathematical model of propsed algorithm and results of its tests in system for computerized measurements of surface phenomena.
