Diabetes stands as the most widely recognized acute disease globally, resulting in death when it is not treated in an appropriate manner and time. We have developed a closedloop control system that uses continuous glucose, carbohydrate, and physiological variable data to regulate glucose levels and treat hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, as well as a hypoglycemia early warning module. Overall, the proposed models are effective at predicting a normal glycemic range from >70 to 180 mg/dl, hypoglycemic values of <70 mg/dl, and hyperglycemic value of 180 mg/dl blood sugar levels. We undertook a seven-day, day-and-night home study with 15 adults. Initially, we started with checking insulin levels after meal consumption, and later, we concentrated on how our system reacted to the physical activity of the patients. Evaluation was conducted based on performance parameters such as precision (0.87), recall (0.87), F-score (0.82), delay (26.5±3), and error size (1.14±2).

Content available remote Wearable Textile Antenna for Glucose Level Monitoring
EN
Wearable antennas are becoming increasingly popular as a result of their wide range of applications, including communication, health parameter monitoring, and so on. If the wearable antenna is built of textile material, it is highly comfortable to wear and has numerous benefits, such as light weight, compact size, and low cost. A 1.3 GHz microstrip antenna made from jeans substrate is presented in this work. For antenna conducting patch and ground plane copper material is used. The electromagnetic properties of the jean’s substrate are dielectric constant ℇr = 1.7 and loss tangent tan δ = 0.01. In this work the main purpose or application of this antenna is to observe three levels of glucose, i.e., hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and normal glucose. The antenna is placed over the arm in the first scenario, while the finger is placed over the antenna patch in the second case. When the glucose concentration in the blood varies, the blood properties change, and the antenna frequency shifts as a result. [That] This frequency shift is used to find out the three glucose levels. The advantage of jeans substrate is that you can wear this antenna very easily over your arm. The antenna is designed using HFSS software and tested using an arm phantom and a finger phantom designed in HFSS.

Content available Diving with Diabetes - A Review of Recommendations
EN
Recreational diving is becoming an increasingly popular physical activity around the world. The vast majority of people who practice scuba diving are amateurs, often being treated for a number of chronic diseases and having cardiovascular burdens. Due to the high prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the world population and the potential for dangerous complications during diving, there is a need for unified recommendations for safe diving with this condition. Current guidelines from international diving associations are not entirely consistent. This review presents the positions of international diving associations concerning the requirements for diving with diabetes, the scope of diving and recommended management of life-threatening conditions during the dive.

Nurkowanie rekreacyjne cieszy się coraz większą popularnością. Znacząca większość osób praktykujących nurkowanie to amatorzy, często obciążeni zdrowotnie.

Objectives: Severe hypoglycemia in a course of inoperable insulinoma may be life-threating and often it is not well controlled, even by high doses of diazoxide requiring second line treatment. Among available methods PRRT is characterized by relatively low toxicity and is connected with favorable antitumor effect. The aim of the study was an evaluation of the PRRT effectiveness in control of hypoglycemia in patients with primary inoperable insulinoma. Methods: Three patients (female with metastatic insulinoma, male with primaryinoperable pancreatic tumor, female with MEN1 syndrome and hepatic metastases) were treated with PRRT due to severe hypoglycemia poorly controlled by diazoxide in course of primary inoperable insulinoma. Results: Patient 1 baseline fasting glucose concentration increased from 2.4 mmol/L [3.30-5.60] to 5.9 mmol/L after PRRT. In patient 2 fasting glucose level 2.30 mmol/L increased after PRRT to 7.0 mmol/L, while baseline insulin level initially 31.15 uU/mL [2.6–24.9] decreased to 15.4 uU/mL. In patients 3, baseline fasting glucose level 2.5 mmol/L increased after PRRT to 7.9 mmol/L, and insulin decreased from 57.9 uU/mL to 6.3 uU/mL. In imaging there was partial response (PR) in patient 1 and 2 and stabilization of the tumor size in patient 3. In patient 2 reduction of tumor infiltration let for curative surgery performed 4 months after PPRT. Conclusions: PRRT may be effective as a first or second line treatment in management of hypoglycemia for patients with hormonally active inoperable insulinoma.

Diabetes is a metabolic disease with complex and varied etiology characterized by chronic elevated level of glucose in the blood. Type 2 diabetes accounts for about 90% of all cases of the disease. Diabetes is a civilization disease, affecting a person younger and younger, and therefore with an increase in the number of new cases of the disease increase not only costs of the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its complications, but also the costs resulting from premature cessation of employment and unemployment, which affects people suffering from diabetes. Diabetics often have trouble with finding the appropriate job and those who work are afraid of losing their jobs because of the false belief about their frequent absenteeism and lower productivity. Performance of work by a diabetic is recommended and beneficial, and only a few professions are not recommended for them. To employee with diabetes can safely work, you must create it with adequate working conditions and education in diabetes must apply to all - not only the patient but also his family, friends and co-workers.
