The analysis of the strength of the ship’s hull after running aground

The article presents a simulation of a ship running aground. It introduces the analytical descrip-tion, as well as the methodology of carrying out strength calculations when creating engineering tasks related to the topic. It shows the state of stresses and deformations of the hull of a modern minehunter after a collision with the bottom for two immersion depths. Research and development opportunities for future considerations are highlighted in the conclusions.

W pracy rozważane jest obciążenie krótkotrwałe czyli takie gdy czas jego działania jest krótszy od okresu pierwszej postaci drgań własnych konstrukcji. Przy poszukiwaniu rozwiązania równania ruchu muszą być spełnione pewne wymogi aby dyskretyzacja rozważanego obszaru i czasu nie powodowała dyssypacji energii wewnętrznej. W pracy przytoczono kilka uwag, które należy brać pod uwagę przy opracowywaniu modelu obliczeniowego.

A short-duration loading of structure is considered which lasts shorter than the period of the first mode free vibration of the structure. While looking for the solution of structure motion equations certain requirements should be fulfilled. Generally, the discretization of the structure and time should not cause dissipation of internal energy of the strucure. Some remarks are given which should be taken into consideration while preparing a computational model.

The paper presents the method and scope of analysis of the hull strength of four ships designed in the Eureka project. Criteria of the Det Norske Veritas rules for classification and construction of ships were used in the analysis. Specific features of the structure of each hull have been described and the resulting problems connected with ensuring adequate strength.
