The article presents the results of the adjustment of the experimental horizontal geodetic network using the classical method and the estimation of strengths in identifying observations with gross error and analyzing the accuracy of the obtained results. The presented analyses were made considering the possibility of their use in implementation networks and measurement and control networks used for monitoring building structures. The paper's subject was a horizontal network established on the Morasko campus (Poznań). While creating it, the practical needs and economics of measurements were taken into account. The obtained results of numerical analyzes confirmed the benefits of using the methods of estimating strengths in the equalization process, which give satisfactory results in the case of outliers.

Optimal design of geodetic network is a basic subject of many engineering projects. An observation plan is a concluding part of the process. Any particular observation within the network has through adjustment a different contribution and impact on values and accuracy characteristics of unknowns. The problem of optimal design can be solved by means of computer simulation. This paper presents a new method of simulation based on sequential estimation of individual observations in a step-by-step manner, by means of the so-called filtering equations. The algorithm aims at satisfying different criteria of accuracy according to various interpretations of the covariance matrix. Apart of them, the optimization criterion is also amount of effort, defined as the minimum number of observations required. A numerical example of a 2-D network is illustrated to view the effectiveness of presented method. The results show decrease of the number of observations by 66% with respect to the not optimized observation plan, which still satisfy the assumed accuracy.

In this paper it is proposed a technique to identify the relevant neighbouring electric power systems using the Horizontal Network scheme. The developed methodology was applied to study the IEEE 118 test power network and the Iberian systems. All simulations were performed using the computational software package PSSŽE developed by the Siemens/PTI. From the simulation results, some conclusions that provide a valuable contribution to the understanding of the impact of the cross-border interconnections between the countries will be pointed out.

W niniejszej pracy zaproponowano technikę w celu określenia sąsiadujących systemów elektroenergetycznych przy realizacji programu Network. Opracowana metodyka została zastosowana do testu IEEE 118 sieci energetycznej i systemów Iberyjskiego. Wszystkie symulacje zostały przeprowadzone przy użyciu pakietu oprogramowania obliczeniowego PSSŽE opracowany przez Siemens/PTI.
