In this paper multi-factor, non-linear, statistical dependencies between drill bit side edges recession VBKF (mm) and drill bit diameter recession DeltaDD (mm) upon cutting path LC (m), and thickness tN (mi m) of a nitrided coating layer after drilling coated particle board are determined. Significant influences of the cutting path LC, and the thickness tN of the gas nitrided coating layer together with an interaction on the VBKF and the DeltaDD are evidenced. Dependency between hole edge swelling SW (mm) and drill bit side edges recession VBKF is also evaluated.
