Lipnica Murowana – historic heritage and its conservation protection

The article presents the cultural heritage of the mediaeval town of Lipnica Murowana, located in Lesser Poland in Bochnia County. This historic town can boast valuable architectonic and urban design buildings. These are the church of St. Leonard; the church of St. Andrew the Apostle; the church of St. Simon; the Starost’s House; the Ledóchowski Manor; the school building, relics of town housing and, primarily, the mediaeval urban layout with a market square. The article presents the history of the abovementioned historic buildings and spaces, and analyses their current protection and conservation guidelines.

Artykuł dotyczy dziedzictwa kulturowego niegdysiejszego średniowiecznego miasta Lipnicy Murowanej, położonego w Małopolsce, w powiecie bocheńskim. Ten zabytkowy ośrodek ma na swoim terenie cenne zabytki architektury i urbanistyki. Są to: kościół pw. św. Leonarda; kościół pw. św. Andrzeja Apostoła; kościół pw. św. Szymona; Dom starościński; Dwór Ledóchowskich; budynek szkoły, relikty małomiasteczkowej zabudowy mieszkalnej, a przede wszystkim zachowany średniowieczny układ urbanistyczny z rynkiem. W artykule dokonano analizy historii wymienionych obiektów i przestrzeni zabytkowych wraz z przeglądem ich bieżącej ochrony oraz wytycznymi konserwatorskimi.

Lubelszczyzna to rejon, gdzie od wieków mieszały się wyznania, narodowości i kultury. Również dziś – jako teren pogranicza – jest miejscem barwnym i tolerancyjnym. Wielokulturowe dziedzictwo tego regionu jest zarazem jego szansą i obciążeniem – doskonale widać to na przykładzie dwóch miast: słynnego Zamościa i mniej znanego Lubartowa. Różni je geneza powstania, wielkość i popularność, łączy wielokulturowy charakter i cenne historyczne dziedzictwo, a także burzliwe dzieje.

Lubelszczyzna is a region where religions, nationalities and cultures have been mixing for ages. Today, the region – being the Borderland area – is also a diverse place full of tolerance. Multicultural heritage of the region is, both, its chance and burden – it can be clearly seen on the examples of two cities: famous Zamość and less known Lubartów. They differ as far as their origin, size and popularity are considered, yet they are linked via multicultural character and precious historic heritage, as well as their tempestuous history.

In this article the Author makes an attempt at characterizing the notion of urbanity of a city and its significance for maintaining, revitalizing and shaping – today and in the future – of an urban spatial structure. He states that the characteristic feature of a developed area exhibiting an urban character is the occurrence of public spaces – places favouring public (social) use, offering an attractive functional programme, attracting users. Places which stand out in the area of the city thanks to the characteristic properties of their forms, creating easily identifiable sequences of spaces in the city, exhibiting a desirable human scale of development and urban interiors formed by it. Places exhibiting distinct identity features, thanks to maintaining, adopting or creating contemporary interpretation of the tradition of the place and the historic heritage of the material culture. Places which stand out with their attractive, diversified forms of architecture, the richness of shapes, details, colours, picturesqueness of the atmosphere created by them.

W artykule Autor podejmuje próbę scharakteryzowania pojęcia miejskość miasta i jego znaczenia do utrzymania, rewitalizacji i kształtowania współcześnie i w przyszłości miejskiej struktury przestrzennej. Stwierdza, że cechą szczególną obszaru zbudowanego o miejskim charakterze jest występowanie przestrzeni publicznych – miejsc sprzyjających publicznemu (społecznemu) użytkowaniu, o atrakcyjnym programie funkcjonalnym, przyciągającym użytkowników. Miejsc wyróżniających się w obszarze miasta dzięki charakterystycznym cechom ukształtowania, tworzącym łatwe do identyfikacji w mieście sekwencje przestrzeni o pożądanej ludzkiej skali zabudowy i uformowanych przez nią wnętrz urbanistycznych. Miejsc posiadających wyraźne cechy tożsamości, dzięki zachowaniu, wykorzystaniu lub twórczej współczesnej interpretacji tradycji miejsca i historycznego dziedzictwa kultury materialnej. Miejsc wyróżniających się atrakcyjnymi, zróżnicowanymi formami architektury, bogactwem kształtów brył, detali, kolorów, malowniczością tworzonego przez nie klimatu.
