The article describes establishing the Polish Army Museum and its activities in 1945 - 1949. After-the-war lots of the Museum have been presented: the return to work of its former employees and museum co-workers, their energetic and effective actions to restore the army central museum and to build its two branches in Malbork and Wrocław. Redecorating the building, progress in collecting exhibits and their conservation - all this enabled organising a permanent exhibition and opening the museum on 20th January 1946, on the first anniversary of capturing the left bank of Warsaw.
