W artykule przedstawiono historię dotychczasowych edycji Sympozjum Historia Elektryki. Pierwsze Sympozjum zostało zorganizowane w Gdańsku z inicjatywy Centralnej Komisji Historycznej Stowarzyszenia Elektryków Polskich. Było okazją do spotkania osób interesujących się historią z wyższych uczelni technicznych i przemysłu, ale również zajmujących się historią zawodowo. Sukces pierwszego spotkania spowodował, że stała się to cykliczna impreza, organizowana przez różne ośrodki: Szczecin (2016), Wrocław (20 17), Kraków (2018). Przedstawiono również krótkie omówienie tematyki referatów prezentowanych w ramach dotychczasowych konferencji.

In the article the history of the previous editions of the Electrics History Symposium is presented. The first Symposium was organized in Gdańsk at the initiative of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers, Central Committee of History. It was an opportunity for people from technical universities, industry and also professional historians interested in history to meet in person. The success of the first meeting resulted in it becoming a periodical event, organized by various centres: Szczecin (2016), Wrocław (2017), Kraków (2018). There is also a short overview. of the topics presented in the previous conferences.

W artykule skrótowo przedstawiono fakty dotyczące kształtowania się technologii i techniki Zakładów Azotowych w Tarnowie- Mościcach. Wskazano najbardziej znaczące dla kształtowania fabryki okresy: powstanie Państwowej Fabryki Związków Azotowych w Mościcach, okres tzw. Tarnowa II i okres po wejściu Azotów Tarnów na Giełdę Papierów Wartościowych. Dokonania ostatniego okresu są tylko zasygnalizowane, bowiem ich dynamizm trwa. Autor podkresla, że w 85-letniej historii Firmy bardzo ważni byli jej pracownicy, często wybitni specjaliści i znakomite osobowości, a zawsze ludzie bezgranicznie oddani Firmie.

This paper presents briefly the facts related to the development of technology and technique of Zakłady Azotowe in Tarnów-Mościce. It describes the most important periods for the factory formation such as: the establishment of the State Works of Nitrogen Compounds in Mościce, the period of so called Tarnów II and the present period after Azoty Tarnów debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The achievements from the latter period are only generalised as they are dynamic and still in progress. The author emphasises that the company workers, often outstanding specialists and remarkable personalities and always entirely devoted to the Company, were very important in the 85-year history of the Company.

The last years of Poland’s independence were characterized by aboard of scope investments, especially in the area of the Central Industrial Region (abbreviated in Polish as COP), a majority of which were a part of the Six-Year Plan of modernization and development of the Polish Army. According to the investment plan twelve factories of direct arms industry were to built in the COP with a major factory of the Southern Works in Stalowa Wola. A register of the Polish military works in 1938 included 44 state factories and 204 private ones.

The foundation of Poland's economic development in the years 1936-1939 was the country's investment policy. The person who created it and who implemented it in practice was Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski (1888-1974), the deputy prime minister for economy and the minister of treasury in Poland’s last two pre-war cabinets. He was the co-author of developing expanding the port of Gdynia and the Polish merchant navy and one of the creators of the blueprint of the Central Industrial Zone (COP). The period between the great crisis and the Second World war were the first years of modern state interventionism in the country’s economy. The years 1936-39 witnessed the greatest effort in preparing the country for war, in which the main role was played by state capital. Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski initiated a four-year investment plan (1936-1940), and later he prepared a 15-year plan (1939-1954), of which only the 1936-1939 plan was financially secure. An integral part of implementing the state investment plans was the development of the COP, which bore the name of „security triangle” (priority was given to armaments investments). The COP was to enhance industrialization of the state and transforming Poland into an industrial and agricultural country. The outbreak of WW2 on September 1, 1939 cut short the implementation of these plans at the very moment when they had started to bear fruit. The implementation of some of these tasks were re-started following the end of WW2.

A history of „Chemik” monthly since its foundation in 1948 up to the end of 1965 is discussed. The most important persons and events are mentioned – economic, technological and sometimes also political ones – which determined the subject matter undertaken in the columns and had an influence the development of the journal and chemical industry in Poland. Part II – the years of 1966-2007 – will be published in the number 1/2008.

W zbiorach Biblioteki Polskiej w Paryżu przechowywany jest rękopiśmienny, francuskojęzyczny opis bogactw mineralnych Królestwa Polskiego. Autor tego tekstu pozostaje anonimowy, według posiadanych przez bibliotekę informacji rękopis sporządzony został wkrótce po Powstaniu Listopadowym, przedstawiony miał być generałowi Paskiewiczowi. W opisie zwraca uwagę szczegółowy opis wód mineralnych z Buska Zdroju, jak i uwagi dotyczące kopalni olkuskich oraz analiza ekonomiczna przemysłu wydobywczego Królestwa. Ten cenny z wielu względów dokument historii polskiego przemysłu wydobywczego nigdy jak dotychczas nie został opublikowany lub choćby zbadany przez historyków.

In the collections of Polish Library in Paris is kept a manuscript written in french describing mineral resources of Kingdom of Poland. The author of the document remains anonymous. According to information available to the library the manuscript was draw up soon after the November Uprising and it was supposed to be presented to general Paskiewicz. In the account the detailed description of mineral waters of Busko Zdroj is conspicuous, as well as remarks concerning mines of Olkusz and economical analysis of the mining industry in Kingdom of Poland. This document of polish mining industry is precious in view of many considerations and has never been published so far, neither has been even examined by historians.

The article contains not only the review of an extremely interesting book of an English historian, but also highlights a variety of problems in order to facilitate Polish readers understanding of the described events. The author of the article, enriched the list of the reference items, which in the discussed book contained 5 source positions, with further 8 source positions. In the end of the article the author emphasizes the unquestionable value of Davies's work, recommending its thorough study to all those who are interested in our history.
