W latach 2001-2006 nastąpił znów gwałtowny wzrost cen jednostkowych niektórych nośników energii. Najwięcej zdrożał w Polsce olej opałowy i koks, bo o ponad 120%. O około 60% zdrożał gaz ziemny, węgiel i drewno.

In the years 2001-2006 there was another sudden increase in the unit cost of some energy carriers. The most significant price increase was that of fuel oil and coke, i.e. over 120%. Natural gas, coal and wood went up in price by approximately 60%. However, the increase in prices of electric energy was insignificant at that time. The influence of fuel cost on the final energy price is high in Poland (more than 60% of the unit price for consumers of heat produced by various heating systems). Unit prices of heat in Poland reached the level of heat prices in the EU countries, where personal income is a few times higher. This situation is difficult for heat consumers and for heating plants.
