Artykuł porusza tematykę architektury współczesnych domów opieki w wybranych krajach europejskich. Badania mają na celu określenie czynników mających istotny wpływ na kształtowanie przestrzeni w domach opieki i w dużym stopniu determinujących rozwiązania przestrzenno-funkcjonalne, materiałowe, kolorystyczne oraz aranżacyjne. Materiał do badań stanowią wybrane domy opieki z Austrii, Francji i Hiszpanii. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono pokojom pacjentów oraz strefom wspólnym, które stanowią przestrzenie w dużej mierze definiujące domy opieki. Dokonano także przeglądu literatury o podobnej tematyce, aby określić najczęściej poruszane aspekty dotyczące projektowania przestrzeni dla osób starszych wymagających opieki. Na tej podstawie sprawdzono czy badania z ostatnich lat mają odzwierciedlenie w projektach współczesnych domów opieki.

This paper deals with the architecture of contemporary nursing homes in selected European countries. The research aims to identify factors that have a significant impact on the design of nursing home spaces and that largely determine the spatial-functional, materials, colour and arrangement solutions. The study material consists of selected nursing homes from Austria, France and Spain. Special attention was paid to patients’ rooms and common areas, which are spaces that largely define nursing homes. A literature review on similar topics was also carried out to identify the most frequently addressed aspects concerning the design of spaces for older people in need of care. On this basis, it was examined whether research from recent years is reflected in the design of contemporary nursing homes

Specificity of general zones in large modern European multispeciality hospitals – selected case studies

The present paper shows the results of research on general zones in large European multispeciality hospitals. A dozen or so institutions, flagship examples of large contemporary hospitals, were selected for the study. The research focused on internal zones, in particular the reception area linked to the main communication system of the hospital, which functions as a public space offering a range of services and provides space for communication, waiting and meetings. This work aims to determine design trends in the location and forms of general zones, their characteristics and proportion to other zones in hospitals, architectural features and functional-spatial solutions. The relationships between the shape of the hospital, its internal general zones, and their percentage share in the total building area were examined. Art and greenery in these zones were also investigated, along with the presence of natural lighting, the colours, and the type of finishing materials used in this type of space today. The study revealed noticeable differences between the form of general zones in large contemporary as well as 20th-century hospitals. In addition to their form, the arrangement of zones has also changed, and they often do not resemble a hospital space. Art and greenery play an increasingly important role. The general zone is a hospital’s essential communication hub, constituting the main public space where people may meet.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie procesu wdrażania strategii healthy cites w kontekście poprawy jakości przestrzeni architektonicznej na przykładzie miasta Poznania oraz próba dokonania oceny spełnienia założeń programowych Stowarzyszenia Zdrowych Miast Polskich i idei healthy cities, jak również ewaluacja zmian w przestrzeni dedykowanej ochronie zdrowia. Obserwowany obecnie duży wzrost wymagań społecznych związanych z opieką zdrowotną, w tym wysoką jakością przestrzeni, pozwala zauważyć zależność pomiędzy jakością rozwiązań architektonicznych, funkcjonalno-przestrzennych w szpitalu a procesem zdrowienia pacjenta.

This article aims to describe in more detail the implementation of the Healthy Cities strategy in the context of the improved quality of the architectural space based on the example of Poznan, and to assess whether the assumptions of the programme of the Polish Association of Healthy Cities and the ideas of Healthy Cities are met and to evaluate the changes in space dedicated to health care. At present, there is a growing social demand for health care, in this a demand for high quality space, which allows us to observe that there are interdependencies between the quality of architectural functional and spatial solutions applied in hospitals and the patient’s recovery process.

Healthcare infrastructure user’s satisfaction and safety is strongly dependent on dedicated space and the environment. The main goal of the EBD/EBP is to provide suitable solutions for the building and its users, based on the interdisciplinary approach, and reflected in diverse scientific evidence that is taken into account.

Głównym celem EBD/EBP, jest zapewnienie odpowiednich rozwiązań przestrzennych użytkownikom, bazując na podejściu interdyscyplinarnym i wykorzystując szeroki wachlarz dowodów naukowych.
