Porty morskie w Europie są bardzo ważnymi elementami kontynentalnego systemu transportu. Przeładowują rocznie ponad 4 mld ton ładunków. Obsługują handel wewnątrz Europy jak i jej wymianę ze światem. Ewolucja portów rozpoczęła się w latach 60. XX wie ku i przekształciła je w porty III generacji oraz centra: przeładunkowo – magazynowe, logistyczne i informacyjne. Porty te, realizując strategie logistyczne, stały się kluczowymi elementami szeregu lądowo – morskich łańcuchów dostaw, generując wysoką logistyczną wartość dodaną jako efekt realizacji szeregu usług trans portowych, spedycyjnych i logistycznych.

Seaports in Europe are very important elements in the continental transportation system. They handling more than 4 billion tons of cargo every year. Handling trade within Europe and exchange with the world. Evolutions of the seaports began in the ‘60s Twentieth century and evolved in to the third generation ports and centers: the handling and storage, logistics and information. These seaports implementing logistics strategies have be come the key elements of many sea -land supply chain genera ting high value -added logistics (VAL) as a result of the implementation of a number of transport, forwarding and logistics services.
