W najbliższej przyszłości hamulce tarczowe i klockowe bada nadal podstawową formą układów hamulcowych sterowanych pneumatycznie w pojazdach szynowych. Hamulce tarczowe pozostaną przede wszystkim hamulcami realizującymi duże moce hamowania. W zastosowaniach w wagonach towarowych jak również w pojazdach o prędkościach maksymalnych do 120 km/h i na większe prędkości w ściśle określonych warunkach brzegowych, hamulec klockowy jest nadal interesujący ze względu na niskie koszty produkcji i niskie koszty eksploatacji. W artykule przedstawiono czynniki mające wpływ na zakres stosowalności hamulca klockowego i warunki brzegowe jego stosowania, szczególnie w aspekcie różnych rodzajów materiałów wstawek hamulca klockowego (żeliwnych i kompozytowych), oraz uszkodzeń cieplnych kół.

In the nearest future the disk and block brakes still will be the basic forms of the braking systems controlled pneumatically in the rail vehicles. First of all the disk brakes will remain the brakes realizing the high braking power. In the applications in the freight wagons as well as in the vehicles with maximum speeds to 120 km/h and with the higher speeds in the exact defined boundary conditions, the block brake is still interesting with regard to the Iow costs of production and the Iow costs of operation. The factors having an effect on the range of applicability of the block brake and the boundary conditions of its application are presented in this article, in particular in the aspect of the different kinds of materials of the block brake shoes (cast iron and composite), and the thermal damages of the wheel.
