Człowiek, będąc z natury istotą społeczną, w kontaktach z innymi realizuje potrzebę akceptacji, spójności społecznej i przynależności do grupy, którym sprzyjają: partycypacja społeczna, odpowiedni program użytkowy i jego dostępność oraz przestrzeń społeczna, jej wielkość, kształt i sposób urządzenia. Przestrzeń ta, służąca w największym stopniu dzieciom, w miarę pojawiania się różnicowanych form pracy staje się też miejscem dla ludzi aktywnych, sprzyjając realizacji zdrowego stylu życia w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie mieszkania. Jest również ważna dla ludzi starszych, dla których odległość od miejsca codziennej rekreacji jest decydująca. Przestrzeń społeczna, będąca w strukturze urbanistycznej wnętrzem społecznym, pozostanie, dostosowując się do lokalizacji "na ziemi" i "nad ziemią", i będzie wciąż tym najbliższym człowiekowi obszarem, z którym może się on identyfikować. Wraz z rosnącymi oczekiwaniami dotyczącymi jakości środowiska wzrośnie zapotrzebowanie na tworzenie takiej przestrzeni.

Man - a social being by nature - realizes his needs for acceptance, social cohesiveness and affiliation to a group through contacts with others. They are supported by: social participation, a proper utilitarian programme and its accessibility as well as a social space, its size, shape and arrangement. This space, most popular with children, which also becomes a place for active people with the appearance of diverse forms of working, is conducive to the realization of a healthy lifestyle in the vicinity of a place of residence. It is also important to elderly people for whom the distance from the place of everyday recreation is crucial. A social space, acting as a social interior in the urban structure, will remain man's nearest and dearest area. He can identify with it and adjust to "ground" and "overground" locations. Demand for the creation of such a space will rise with the increasing expectations concerning the quality of the environment.

W artykule podjęto próbę zdefiniowania pojęcia bezpieczeństwa w sensie generalnym. Autor porusza problematykę związaną z dualizmem tego zagadnienia – z jednej strony jest to bezpieczeństwo państwa – którego kryterium stanowi suwerenność, z drugiej bezpieczeństwo grupy społecznej – utożsamiane z zachowaniem tożsamości. Czynniki te powodują, iż w realiach dzisiejszej rzeczywistości należy ponownie redefiniować pojęcie bezpieczeństwa oraz wskazówek metodologicznych, niezbędnych do analizy wspomnianej problematyki. Artykuł definiuje oraz klasyfikuje występujące we współczesnym świecie zagrożenia, ponieważ analizując problem bezpieczeństwa, nie można zapomnieć, iż powinno być ono rozpatrywane w perspektywie zagrożeń i wyzwań oraz szans sprostania im jak najmniejszym kosztem.

The article attempts to define security in a broad sense. The author analyses the dualism of this issue: on the one hand, there is homeland security, the criterion of which is sovereignty of a country; on the other hand, there is security of a social group, which is related to preserving identity. As a result of the aforementioned factors, at present juncture it is necessary to redefine the notion of security and methodological guidelines indispensable to analyse the abovementioned issues. The article defines and classifies the threats occurring in the modern world, the reason being that while analysing the issue of security, one must not overlook the fact that it should be considered from the point of view of threats and challenges as well as chances to meet them at the lowest cost.

Głównym celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie roli armii w kreowaniu ładu społecznego na świecie. Mając na uwadze fundamentalne zadania armii funkcjonującej w ramach struktur państwowych, autor zwrócił uwagę na jej trzy aspekty, czyli społeczny, organizacyjny i instytucjonalny. Pierwszy z nich opisuje armię, jako grupę społeczną połączoną interakcjami makrospołecznymi z innymi grupami społecznymi. Drugi dotyczy armii jako organizacji, która posiada specyficzną kulturę organizacyjną opisywaną przez system symboli, bohaterów i tradycje, specyficzny język oraz wiele innych elementów charakterystycznych dla armii. Trzeci określa armię jako instytucję wypełniającą zadania na rzecz państwa.

The article’s main aim is to present the role the army plays in creating social order in the world. Taking account of the fundamental tasks the army operating within the structure of the country is assigned, the author discusses its three aspects: social, organisational and institutional. The first one depicts the army as a social group linked to other social groups through macro social interactions. The second one refers to the army as an organisation that possesses a unique organisational culture described by a system of symbols, heroes and traditions, a unique language as well as a great deal of other elements that are typical of the army. The third one defines the army as an institution carrying out its tasks for the country.
